Max safe boost? [Merged 10-6]

I would spike to 28psi on my e316g, and then it would drop and hold at 24 on pump gas. That was as high as I could run with my setup.
Would those cans of octane boost help his knock at all?

I just bored my motor (4g63) .020 over and put 8:1 compression pistons in. I was wondering what psi could I run my turbo (14b) and be safe and what would be the max to run at the track? All of my mods are up to date in my profile. Thank you for the help!

i would say your best way to find out would be to get an air/fuel ratio gauge and start at maybe 15 lbs and do some WOT pulls at like 15 psi and keep crankin the boost up and doing pulls and you will know what your limits are after a little while. if i where you i would invest in one of the tuning options we have out there like dsmlink or ostrich emulator

these are your mods:
3" Thermal r&d catback, 3" punishment racing downpipe, ssautochrome header and o2 housing, fmic with hard piping, greddy type-s bov, dual stage boost contorller, 255 walbro fuel pump, 14b turbo w/ 16g hotside, 660cc injectors, GM Maf.

Are you running an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator? Your are running larger then stock injectors and a wally 255.

Many people have maxed out this turbo on stock blocks. It really all depends on your set up. You could boost close to 18. I think that a good psi for your 14b with 660cc. People have ran it as high as 26 psi, but you should be looking into e85 at that point.

To me your question reads like you're concerned with the compression ratio. Don't be, you're WAY below the limits of compression ratio and turbo on pump. Your 14B is fine, and your max will be based on your fuel system and individual engine. You'll need a logger and tuner - no one can actually answer this question (unless you mean on stock fuel system).

Just out of curiosity how much boost can a stock 7 Bolt stand?? well of course with some supporting mods like turbo back,DP,MBC,Cam,Cam Gears ect, but no new internals. :talon:

It'll hold boost right up until it blows.
There is no right answer to this question.

Alright so it's nothing major really but I have yet to see what my new turbo can do past wastegate pressure which is 11 psi. I was considering getting a mbc and upping the boost to 15 psi. I have a small 16g turbo and no supporting fuel mods installed at the moment. Do you think this would be safe still on the stock fuel system? I know it may be silly but I don't have a wideband yet and I don't know what to expect.

This has been answered in one form or another 100000000 times. Unless you have a way to log knock and a wideband, leave it alone on stock boost.

What exactly is wideband? I was on dsmparts.com and all I see is the gauge that all it is? Just wondering thanks! :talon:

okay so i'm looking to really push my 16g to its max( currently at 23spi boost ) but im not sure if i have all the supporting fuel / spark mods .... so insite on what i should look to buy or upgrade please let me know, thanx.

Tuning- ECMLink V3 lite -AEM Uego/AEM Tru-Boost

-FUEL- 92oct. -
-255wally (stm rewire)
-PTE 880cc ( at 81% DTC at 24psi, 16g flowing 40-41 lbs/min)
-Fuel lab AFPR ( 38psi )
-stock feed and filter ( is this a restriction possibly? )

-Ignition-
-stock ignition
-NGK BPR7ES plugs ( .26 )
-NGK wires

-Intake-
-Punishment FMIC
-Tial QR BPV
-2g MAF ( unhacked )
-Dejon hard intake pipe
-K&N filter

-Exhaust-
-2.5in. SS re-cuirc. o2 housing
-3" DP back
-FP manifold

currently im replacing my cheap Greddy knockoff BOV, because the seal blew out on it as soon as i went more than 25psi, but its getting replaced with a new Tial QR.

I have a AEM Uego Wideband & a AEM tru-boost controller

The reason i ask is iv never gotten over 25 psi, other than boost spikes , without encountering Knock or spark blowout and it seems like my A/F leans out to around 11:1 , but i have a feeling that was due to a leak at my bov before it blew, which is getting fixed.... so i just wanna make sure, if i fix my problem , that i can turn the boost up safely

Yes, it is.

You don't have to do a full tank to rail kit, but replace the filter and line from filter to rail with something that actually flows so you can take full advantage of the 255.

You're not actually going to gain much flow by turning up the boost. Your 16G is only a few lbs below its max.

okay so just get like a Fuel lab filter and filter to feed line? that will be much easier than tank-to-rail. What about spark? should i gap my plugs a little closer or go to 8es for the track?
