If anyone out there has tried this; How hard is it to fit an EVO V Intercoler, and how much of a difference did it make?

My freind has a EVO8 on his galant, def much better than stock and helps alot.

Whoever says its not worth it has there head up there ass, Ive seen alot of people talk" and bad mout the evo front mounts.

They are good nothing is wrong with them, and when you have money later on you can get a really nice core and just mod the piping a bit and throw it all together.

Id say go for it, my freind loves his and has no problems.

I had an Evo8 on my old GS-T loved it. (better than stock) Installation was pretty easy. Some custom pipes and 2 mounting brackets welded up.. :thumb: Here are some pics..

I would have looked into mounting it upside down and having the piping going through the radiator support rather than down so close to the ground. I never got why evo intercoolers do that.

I like that idea, scoop up the evo9 front mount and put it to good use.

I might be beating a dead horse here but i did some searching and i couldn't really finda anything worth while. But i was wondering what it would take to install an evo fmic. I'm getting it super cheap from a friend and ive seen it on 2g's but what would it take to get on the 1g and how well will it function.

Thanks for all input.

Sounds easy to mount same as any other intercooler. Its 20x3x11. Can hold 300-400hp on the EVOVIII's.
It's an average intercooler, but you may not see great gains, probably from pressure drop over the odd long pipe routing.
Good Luck!

Thanks man. I guess i didn't look very hard :thumb: but im gonna give it a shot and see what happends with it. And if i dont like it ill start all over again. But thanks again for the advice.

I would suggest a larger core, but they will work ok. You see those evo guys upgrade for a reason, because the core is insufficient, but if no more than 400hp is your goal you should be fine.

No this isn't spam. Several people in the area have asked if it was possible to incorporate an Evo VIII front mount onto our cars. These are mearly showing how it's done, and what it looks like if it's done properly.

Props to Matt and the guys down there, I know what kind of work they do!

It would have been good if that was explained from the begining though. Otherwise yes, it just looks like spam vendor feedback or hype.

Good work though, doesn't look like the most efficent set-up though in terms of routing. But nice anyway.

Sure.

After the throttle plate closes, pressure would have to build up that far through the piping in order for the valve to open. The farther back the bov is, the slower it would be venting the excess pressure. Pressure spikes begin a few inches before the TB, so thats the optimal placement.

Having yours on the hot side of the intercooler you have to wait even longer for the air to build up all the way through the piping and intercooler, then to open the BOV and escape. Form your own opinion on if this is ok or not.

Any real race car I've seen has had the BOV near the TB. I figure they've done all the real science and real life testing on the topic.

This looks like the type of thing that could easily be made into a kit. Just provide your own Evo VIII intercooler and of course the kit would include everything else. Sounds to me like a cost effective solution for people that don't need a huge intercooler.
