68 hta wheel is smaller than 20g wheel. you cant upgrade a 20g to 68hta.
You can do it, but you'll probably never see enough turbine flow to support a compressor that large...so in the end all you'll gain is lag.I for one would like a tdo5h 20g with a 52-55 pound compressor in it.
Biggest we ever ran on the 5H was the old 46trim T04E wheel, even then it didnt really run any better than a 20g 5H did.
Most would say there is a improvement even with the 20g wheel in running a turbine larger than a 5H, thats just a lot of inlet area and not a lot of outlet area. the 20g 6 or 20g 6H works well. And the more modern 6H4 with 11 blades works even better.
Anything you run with a 5H is gonna have to work well at really high shaft speed, so think small diameter high flow high speed compressor when you look to a 5H turbine for power.

When you mentioned having a 71HTA available with a 8cm hotside, 5H turbine wheel, and 84mm surge cover was this for the DSM or for the Evo?
If it's for a DSM what would it cost?
What style compressor cover would this 71HTA have?
If you want something in between I can build you a 71HTA w/ an 84MM surge ported compressor cover, 8CM hot side and a 5H wheel.

Wow. That's cheaper than the 68HTA, is the 8cm housing on it a Mitsu hotside off of a Starion 14g modified to bolt onto a DSM o2 housing?I was speaking for the DSM's.
The price for a DSM 71HTA would be $1299 internally or externally gated.

So this will be in a TD06 downfiring housing rather than a stock appearing TD05?
Ok so looked into the upgrade option of a EVO III 16G to a 68HTA and we can do those.
It would cost $700 for this upgrade which includes your standard rebuild, new compressor wheel, and machining of your compessor housing and bearing housing to fit the larger wheel.

what is flow rate of 68hta and 71hta? I was under the impression the max flow was actually the same. the taller 71 just gets air moving sooner???


I know you keep getting questions but, thought I'd ask one more. Since you're casting a Mitsu flanged 8cm bolt on 5H housing for a DSM will this be available for purchase like the FP30/FP31 hotsides?

Curious what's getting machined on the center housing if both wheel exducers are 68mm.Spoke with Robert at FP and asked him above question. Robert stated that if the 16G turbo was in fact brand new in the box never used without any rust from storage, than he would be able to discout the conversion by $100 (price of rebuild kit parts) which would bring total to around $600. It is not as simple as it may sound to do the conversion. Turbo gets blue printed, balanced like four times, machine work, etc... It takes 2.5 hours to do the conversion. Price of a 68HTA compressor wheel is $280, rebuild kit $100, compressor cover machine work $75, bearing cover machine work $15, the rest goes to labor. In my opinion $700 sounds like a resonable price.
