1G Headlight Conversion question.. [Merged 11-8] 1Ga pop up headlights

so i am interested in gettting the headlights off of ebay that are replacements for our stock sealed beams. My question is has anyone bought any of these and if so what feedback do you have. I really only want ones that still look relatively stock, maybe a bit clearer, but i mostly want the option to put in my own bulbs and if they are brighter that is only a huge bonus. also does anyone have any pics of these on their car. There are surprisingly alot of styles and it would be nice to see what they look like on a car and hear from you guys how well they disperse light compared to the stockers.a Also some of them have projector beams, what exactly does this do? ive seen the projector beams put on the 2gs and they didnt seem to improve lighting.

Here are some of the ones I am looking at.

Not a big fan of blue headlights, but you could run HID's with those lens/housings. You can get some pretty bright halogen sealed beams. Aimed right they work really well.

I've used similar housings in my Celica. If you go with a higher wattage bulb than OEM, make sure you get upgraded wiring harnesses. I had to rewire my factory harnesses because the new bulbs melted the plastic connectors. That being said, they were much brighter than normal sealed beam headlights.

yeah i dont want the blue bulbs that come with them but i want the wiring harness that comes with them, more specifically the connector. I just want plain old clear white bulbs that are brighter and that i only have to replace the bulb each time not the housing.
my car is a track car so HIDs are a bit unnecessary.

Anyone have pics of these on our cars. I really want to see what the diff variants look like on our cars.

oh yeah merry xmas!

Sorry I have a 2G. I have a picture of them on a Celica. These were with Luminics, Pure Blue 6500k bulbs.

Dang, costs more to ship than to purchase and there is no shipping option available. Bet you can find these at a local NAPA store or similar..

Artificially inflated shipping costs to bypass Ebay. Ebay is turning to crap. :)

ebay is crap... hella sells lights espically made for our cars... look into that, mine has them and they are monofiliment replacements instead of the sealed 4 pound headlights

I would like to know how hard it will be to do the pop up conversion to a non pop up chassis i know i need headlights bumper and fenders and hood i have access to a whole 91 tsi and i have a 92 eclipse gst i am getting the parts tommarow just wonder any input? want talon popup front end wit my eclipse rear:dsm:

There are brackets to remove from the core support to fit the marker lights. You would also be swapping the wiring harness for the proper wiring harness with the relays and fuses for the pop up motors. The switches on the dash would also have to be added. I'm sure it can be done but it's not going to be easy. These are just a couple other thing to think about.

You wouldn't need the wiring harness, if you know how to read a wiring diagrahm. Just splice into one of your circuits and there you go. You could even hook them up so that whenever you turn your light on the popups come on. Or another whacky idea, is to fab in HID's into the slim lights, and just run the sexy slim lights..

i got all the parts forgot one the motors deciding to make stationary open and if i want for show or racing make them go down dosen't matter but i see i do need the brackets from the core support i saw that when dissassembling the talon i took the whole bumper fenders and the side markers need those brackes but looking at i i can fab i something to look factory the wiring will be a sinch :dsm: i will take pics and load them up when i start the conversion maybe doing it for no reason all i know is i am going to make it so if i'd like to conver back i can but who knows hope i can do this.:talon::dsm:

I just picked up 90 Talon TSi. It was actually one of RRE's old cars. Front end is converted to the 92 headlights, however the headlights wont power. I've checked the fuses and whatnot, but nothing. Point being, the wiring has to be done right, no half $$$$$ it. The wires from the projectors are spliced directly to the engine harness. There should be sets of pigtails instead. The swap seemed easy enough, the guy just had to make a couple brackets to hold the projectors in, and get an aftermarket hood. Ill post pics tomorrow when theres some light out.
