I know it will sound stupid (you didn't mention it) but did you press the bottom to keep the headlight up? it is a bottom switch right next to the fog light switch (Left side). If you keep it press the headlights are going to keep up.....

Thats exactly what happened to my friend like 3 days after he got his 91 talon. He called me all pissed off and I went over to his house and pushed the button laughing the whole time. Just hope thats the only thing thats wrong. If not then WTF . John

A 92 with pop ups?

Let me know what you find out about the lights not going down. Mine are doing the same thing. I can turn them down manually and they pop up with the light switch or binnacle button, but don't go down:(. I check the fuse under the dash, under the hood with both of them looking ok.

if your horn works your in cabin fuse is fine they are tied together so as long as your horn is good your fuse is fine

I have figured out the problem! I have sold the car and bought an 03 Evo since, but it was something very simple. I just had to press one of the buttons on the dash (upper left, on the driver's side). They have worked fine ever since. I swear I have tried this before and it didn't work, but I have replaced fuses recently so maybe that was it. Strange!

WOW!That is all i have to say....Wait didn't the guys say to push that button earlier in this thread? did you sell it due to that only?

No the pop ups were working when I sold the car. I sold the car because I wanted a nice AWD platform, and I was offered a great deal on a modified 03 EVO so I took it. No one wanted to offer me a loan on a 2g GSX (too old) so I got an Evo instead, and I have to admit I am VERY happy! Autocrossing is a blast! The DSM was my baby but, after two blown engines and a busted tranny, I just got tired of breaking stuff. The EVO makes reliable power, has awd, a ridiculous suspension (tein coilovers + edfc), and doesn't have faded paint or rust =) I still plan on buying another awd DSM however. I miss how cheap parts were =)

on my 1990 eclipse the headlights stay in the up position all the time. this has happend recently and i thought it might of been a stuck relay so i swapped relays for the headlight motor but that didnt help.

what could it be ? ?

I don't know what relay you mean and I know this is going to sound too simple to be it, but on the right side of the dash, there is 2 circular buttons (3 if you have fogs). One is the dimmer, the other keeps the pop-ups up all the time. Make sure you don't have this button pressed. I'd personally consider this a switch more than relay, so I thought I'd toss it out there. Never hurts to try.

also if that switch ever becomes disconnected or a wire were to break it will pop up the lights

You mean left .

If you run through and check the switches and that is not the problem, then start by checking voltage going into the headlight motors and start to diagnose your problems from there.

So i bought my car with non working headlights (stuck uo), finally dug into them today to see whats going on. Took off the plastics and top covers to headlights, removed the arms from the motors, sprayed hinges liberally with PB blaster, and tried to break them free. no avail. only movement came from the core support flexing.

What i want to know is, is there some trick to freeing completely seized hinges or am i better off just trying to find entire new assembelies?

nobody?
