1G Headlight Conversion question.. [Merged 11-8] 1Ga pop up headlights

Thats what I thought, so i bought driving lights, and am mounting them next to my FMIC, until I can decide what to do with my headlights. I could always cut holes in the lens and mount them flush with it i guess.

what about the pontiac grand prix or am, something like that. There was a model year that they had slim head lights that may fit with a little modification. I might look into this and try to find pics of what i am talking about.

Hmm, might take a trip to the store with my lens in hand now, haha.

my lights shine through pretty bright when you pull the brights with the headlights down. Can you just weld the popup's down and turn them on and just let them shine through the other lens ?

tryed that, didn't like it. Also my lens are black(tinted), i kinda of like it since everything else is tinted as well. I think i might just drill a big hole in the lenses and epoxy the driving lights in, making it flush.

Get rid of the tinted front parking lights and put a clear lens in there with HID projectors maybe E55s behind the clear lense. I think that would be sick!!!

Or make easy and mount conventional projectors behind the lense:
Use lights similar to these: http://site.autotecknic.com/images/products/pfoglight3.jpg

Back in the day people chose to do a 300z conversion like this:

Whatever you do.... don't get the lids that have projectors in them that is ugly and riced out to the max.

Im not sure if you remember my PGT or not but this is how I did them with my flip ups:

That was back in the day before HIDs were popular. Now I would run quad BMW HIDS.
For you though, I thinks some stealth hid projectors would kick arse.

See, i need to cut out the lens part anyway though, because if it shines through the lens, the light will distort. If i can find HID's that are small enough to fit inside the lens opening, then we got something going for us. Oh, for making the driving lights fit, i thought about this all night, and can dremel out the opening to they aim straight, then use washers on the lens to angle them if necessary. I'm going to test these lights and see how bright they are before moving any further.

Only thing, is that these projectors you show, only have a 55w bulb, my driving lights have a 50 watt bulb, so will brightness be that diffferent?

There are a million different kinds of projectors. As for the lense, I would simply talk to Kurt and get some clear plexi glass. You can heat and bend or cut that stuff with household tools.

You may even look at other vehicle ebay light housings to see if they might fit. For example the 98-00 ford ranger has an "L" shaped housing. You could disect the housing and use only what you need to.

Otherwise do what I did and keep the pop up lights but custom build a "quad eye" for them.

I would like to make the quad eye, but keep it down in the lens part, and not the pop-ups. Thats what i'm going for, i'll run two lights on each side.

Theres someone on here, I dont remember who but search for it, he did a s13 conversion, and it was ####ing sic!!!

learn how to read the thread your posting before you post...

Quote: "I like how that one guy mounted s13 headlights in the space, but those seem way to tall and would require work be done to the hood and/or fender."

I had a reply in this thread but someone deleted it?!?

What I had said before was to measure the area you have to work with, basically figure out what size lens you will need. Then drive around some car lots and look for a style of light that might fit. For instance the avalanche parking light might work. Find something that closely matches the dimentions you are looking for then search for an aftermarket version on ebay. The ebay piece may be fairly cheap and might be the hot ticket for modding.

sounds good, a quick and easy way to spend time with the girlfriend today, going to car dealerships:).

I can't think of any lenses that would match the 1GA dimensions. It's not exactly a common design. You could probably do a custom cut clear plexi though. You'd probably want to cut the old edges off and use them to seal the light though. Bending it to fit would be difficult.

what i think i'll do is mount nice lights behind the lens, cut the lens out and mount plexi there.

Let me know what you do i wanna do something like this. My friend has lights behind his lens and it is hard to see. I just wonder how hard wiring would be to get some of these to work

okay guys my car was in an accedent and my drivers side lights got smashed just wondering what i would need to convert it because i like the new lights
