GI: Carbon/Kevlar/Fiberglass parts

I have a buddy who wanted a cover for the 2gs...If I can get my hands on a dash (I'm going to have to anyways), I'll see what I can do to fabricate one you can bolt in...for racing purposes/off road purposes only of course

So I didn't really get a response via the forums yet, so I'll repitch the idea with a picture. What do you guys think of a full 1 piece carbon or fiberglass valve and upper timing belt cover.

A link for the scion one...just imagine it with the upper timing cover molded to it.

Sounds good. All I am looking for is interest in a well designed part. I know I want one for my truck, so its probably going to be done. I am really trying to see if those who were interested in the upper timing cover would also be interested in this? Let me know guys!

I think it would be a pain if they were in one piece. I e timing belt replacement.

Not really, it would be 2 more bolts? I'm not talking about blending it with the valve cover, just a single valve cover/cam cover piece, follow? No more individual spark plug cover and upper timing cover, or chipped paint manifolds, or dirt/grime visible by your spark plug boots. Just carbon, kevlar, or fiberglass from your CAS to your Cam Gears. Use the 3 mounting points by the timing belt since those are actually important, and the back two spark plug cover holes to hold it on. 5 bolts, and you can change your timing belt. If its that big of a pain for the other two bolts, I'm sorry.... two 10mm bolts take an extra 15 seconds to get out/put in.

I've got a 2g dash that I'm planning on building another member already. The smaller pieces, like the vents, can be wrapped in carbon, or if people are interested, I can make a carbon cover. I am not going to be set up at first to do the parts that get pressed in place by plastic tabs...but those are the pieces that I'll be wrapping to keep cost down and get the parts out faster.

The only thing I ask, and I ask this respectfully, please dont ask "Where can I buy xx carbon fiber piece" in this thread. Your welcome to ask if I can make/wrap this part, but please dont ask in my thread of sales if you can put your money elsewhere.

After I get rolling, I'll look to get going with a few other projects (1g and 2g lips, lower timing cover, etc.) Basically now, I am looking to see which of the three you would want first, so feel free to vote away!

Sorry that is kinda disrespectful and to be honest I would rather have mine made by a fellow dsmer then some stupid warehouse, I sincerly apologize, and I vote 3 separate pieces timing cover value cover then spark plug cover, how long till y get into interior piece? Just a estimate

No disrespect but you wanted feedback....I wouldn't purchase any carbon fiber timing or valve covers....but did I mention I'd buy a wrapped 1GA 3 piece spoiler?

Its all good man. I understand and I know I've jacked some threads before myself! Right now, I'm getting a few different guys looking for the 3 piece design, and I think it will be the first one done (spark plug cover, upper t/c, lower t/c). Eventually, I'm going to produce the full cover because its something that I want, and I think could be pretty big.

No disrespect taken man. Feedback isn't telling someone what they want to hear, but instead, giving them an honest opinion. I'd be more than happy to wrap any item presented to me, thats not a problem. Items that see excessive sunlight (anything not under the hood), will not just be wrapped, but will also be sprayed with a high quality UV resistant clear coat. Once I become a supporting free lancer (I dont have a shop, its all done out of home), I'll be more than happy to talk pricing with you. Or fire me a PM once I've gotten the first few things done, and I'll get back with ya.

UPDATE:

Alright. The decision has been made (due to a good opportunity) that the first items made will be...the upper and lower timing covers.

UPPER: The upper cover is up in the air right now. I am debating on a full upper cover or a a modified upper cover where you can still see the cam gears (seen here). The full version would be smoothed out and similar to that of the Zaklee clear cover, but in carbon fiber. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT YOU WANT, or it will be done as a full cover.

LOWER: The lower cover will be first done for the 6 bolt motors. As of now, I was gifted an upper/lower set to use for the mold that is basically in mint condition, so these will be the first made unless someone wants to also send one for you 2g guys. The cover will be smoothed out and offered exactly as you all wanted...with the timing marks. The timing marks will NOT be painted, however, but will be raised in the resin itself so you can mark it with white out, leave it alone, or find a neon dry erase marker that you can put on to set your timing.

7 bolt guys: If you can find someone with a GREAT condition lower/mid timing cover, I'm more than happy to make the mold I need from these in order to offer the same products to you guys. I know the 1g 7 bolts had a 1 piece lower cover. If the lower cover being one piece is an option for all of the 7 bolts, the cost will be the same. If not, unfortunately, your total cost will be a little higher as there will have to be 3 layups and 3 molds. Any extra information you guys will provide on the 7 bolt covers would be great (i.e. all the same, 1g/2g different, 1g, 2ga, 2gb different, etc.)

The first two covers should be done within the next 3 weeks, and a group buy will follow. You guys will also be happy with how I plan on running my group buys: Any part, any product, any wrap...up to 20% off. How do I figure out how much is taken off? Its 1% of the purchase price, per individual ordering, up to 20%. EX: 1 person - 1%, 5 people is 5%, 20 people is 20%, 50 people is 20%, etc. For those interested in a rough estimate of cost it should be:

Upper Timing Cover: 80
6 bolt Lower Timing Cover: 120
Upper/6 bolt Lower Package: 175

This, again, is a GUESSED price. Let me know which you would be more interested in. Once the final product is done, I'll get set up to sell through tuners, give the final price, and then offer the group buy! I'm also going to be setting up a 1g vs 2g deal, exclusive to those who order. *I know the 7 bolt guys can only order the upper cover at this point, so it would be based on order numbers, not the number of items purchased per individual.* The 2g guys are looking for a front or rear lip, and the 1g guys are looking for the front lip or 1ga head light covers. Those who order, get to vote out of these 4 products, what will be the next on the list! Well...I've got a 21 gallon compressor for the shop along with a few other goodies. As far as the Carbon, I'm still waiting on the upper and lower cover's to arrive along with my new bank card (had to switch banks with a new city...stupid BB&T doesn't believe in SC/GA for the most part). Once that arrives I can order everything else needed online If only these places accepted paypal!

...Sounds good man. If I have enough interest, I know the 1g pop ups are pretty big and the 2g sunroof plug would be big too. We'll see how it all goes, but I just ordered a few parts over the past few days, and should be ordering more here in the next few days!
