FP Green?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

FWIW, BR spec E316G is just an FP E316G with BR taking a profit in their cart and drop shipping directly from FP... They don't even touch the damn thing :p

As far as the new FP Green, it looks remarkably like an ebay turbo with a different cover attached to it. Will that be worth an extra grand? I guess time will tell.

Well, I would hate to think that FP would be willing to lower quality just because were not the big target we used to be in sales.

Anyone bought one of these new ones yet and tested it out?

I'd like to hear some more info on this. I'm contemplating buying this turbo, but what I've read in this thread, and the guys from FP completely holding out vital information is really scaring me, and keeping me from buying this turbo.

So who has bought this new HTA green? How many miles are on it? Results?

Would the guys from FP like to step in and clear up some of these claims?

Let's hear it.

I won a 20g-6sl2 at shootout two years ago. Turbo has the fp cast center section and probably there cast turbine housing. Long story short, my little 20G here has seen more then a few 40+psi track passes and its still kicking strong!!! I think as long as you listen to fp about what kind of oil you should use, there own cast center should be just as good if not better then a mitsu.

Well a few members state that they think FP is using cheap ebay/taiwan/china junk and FP didn't deny it. That raises an eyebrow and is keeping me from buying a Green.

Also I have a 18g-6sl2. I bought it used, only has 1,500 miles on it, still looks new. Anyways after reading this thread I ran to the garage to inspect it. The turbine nut is a hex and has a balancing cut in it like an OE turbo should. And the casting in the CHRA seem to line up with OE casting lines as previously state. So I am fairly certain my 18g was built with guenine mitsu parts. We'll see how long it holds up.

IS_ this_ center-section_different_from_the_sl2-18g?. . . Fairly basic question. Yours may have lasted but many, many others havn't. period.

Another basic question. . . Was it the center section that was at fault or was it the 'innovative' td06sl2 wheel?. . . What was really going on? Saying 'I don't know' is a real answer too. . . So is saying nothing at all.

Seriously I want to see more details on this new fp green turbo other than it has 1 yr warrenty....my other eclipse had a ebay turbo and lasted me 2 1/2 yrs then blew....1 yr is really nothing...

FP does not use CHEAP EBAY PARTS.

They have outsourced MFGing of some of their wheels to places in taiwan for casting. They maintain very strict material standards, it's just more cost effective over seas at the moment.

They make mistakes. Is the centersection and turbine parts the same as the td06sl2 18g? You are blind to the 18g fiasco apparently :nono: . Yet typically, you've commented . . . . . . . . . . . "CHEAP" includes fVcking up. And using the same kinds of sources PTE uses :toobad:.

OH! And, just so much thanks to you for telling us why FP does their business the way they do. I'm sure Robert would shake your hand and thank you for your service at a recent Shootout . . . To make it more digestible and searchable: shut the fvck up, unless you can answer the above questions. . . No "fp good" or "fp bad" monkey talk. Don't confuse your own dong for FP's.

I am good friends with Robert and he has informed me of this, and it is general information for the public. They, like ANY OTHER CASTING PROCESS MFG COMPANY can have issues. The metallurgy is top notch and maintained to high standards. Funny how I am always welcome in his office, and we have very nice conversations.

Where did I say their parts are "cheap"? I said they used a foreign company for more cost effective manufacturing.

 We'd actually rather listen to FP or thier sponsors.

Metallurgy is top notch. . .GREAT. . .Let's keep it coming. . .What else is going on at FP? YOU, you are the man to talk to! Lets see your 'politician handshake' with Robert right here on Tuners. Or what you call tooners on the link forums and elsewhere (the world knows where you stand andrew). Otherwise, as said, shut up.

'Maintained' easily has to do with a loss in quality then gaining it back. What was the process? how did the proccess go? They re-evaluated. . .What was their conclusion. . .YOU should know. . . Unless you are an idiot.

. . .Back to reality. Metallurgy is a small portion of QC. And I did not bring up metalurgy alone as being the problem. All QC control is in question when the 18g slipped through the cracks. . . And I perceive they have a handle on it, yes! They are ForcedPerformance! But I, nor any one here is asking YOU! I brought forward NO problem other than the 18g sl2 issues; which are not metallurgy issues as perceived by the public. And out of full trust in the absolutely proven system in place by the company in discussion, I asked for further discussion by the ACTUAL manufacturers to elaborate on the differences between the 18g sl2 and this turbo, if there even needs to be such discussion(not by some wannabe spokesperson such as you). Who the fvck are you? Lets see: I have put in bold where you have fluffed in your mind what i was saying. Fudging gets you what in science? Here's what it gets you here: Where did I say parts were cheap?????? I said what I said. You can go back and re-read, and re-read, and re-read again. Then finally GET what I said. When you do, let Robert do his job, in which he is far superior. You're not getting paid, even.

Meanwhile, maturity is subjective to those reading this thread. . . read on.

Not to fuel this fire, but I know of three different 18G-6SL2 owners who had to send their turbos back within the first year to have the turbine housings replaced after they cracked bad enough to leak exhaust to the exterior of the turbo. All three of these FP customers were unimpressed with the durability of the casting. I don't exactly call these examples "top notch metallurgy" when they cannot hold a candle to what is produced by Mitsubishi.

Let's hope they get these issues worked out for their latest run of performance turbochargers. I'd hate to see a company like FP go down in flames after putting quality on the line in an attempt to keep manufacturing costs low.

I've been seeing guys with broken turbine wheels. No I don't know if the casings are causing it or not. . .

. ..I'll wager FP isn't following that same business plan with these turbochargers. Would be nice to know that is for sure. No one needs input from silly cheerleading. "Good friends with Robert". If you could contribute them on this thread, your results would be greatly appreciated, Kevin.

Here is my contribution, i took an bunch of picures, this turbo is going in this weekend hopefully, Justin you are more than welcome to take a look and give us advice. :D

Is there ANY way we could talk you into removing that turbine housing and getting a few measurements on the turbine wheel? I'm curious as to the spec- the TD06H would never fit behind an Evo III-style turbine housing unless the housing was cast specifically for the larger wheel.

If you don't want to pull the turbine housing off your nice new turbo, I understand completely.

The turbine blades definitely have a different shape to them than a MHI TD06H turbine. The blades on your turbo are more rounded / swept, almost like a HX40 turbine wheel. Notice the difference in the blade shape between your example and a new MHI TD06H turbine:

I know what you mean and yeah it looks similar to the holset turbine, i'm not planing on taking this turbo apart because if something happens to it i don't want fp to be telling me that the warranty was void because i took it apart or some bs like that.:|
