Few noob questions! Wastegate cracks bad??

First off I have a question in regards to the 14b i recently purchased. It has little to no shaft play, but there are some major looking crack that are located by the wastegate flape. I need to know if i can still use this turbo. Are these cracks going to affect performance or anything? Sorry for the quality. My cell phone takes better pics then my digital camera.

On this photo where the color goes from dark to white is another crack. You cant see it very well but its there.

Also I havnt delt with turbos much before and i was wondering if this studd is suppose to be there? or did it break off. Also there is no 02 housing on this turbo. Can i use the 02 housing from my t-2small?

I am having troubling finding 14b install kits. If someone could provide a link that would be great.

You need a 16g install kit (same as the 14b) and many vendors make them...
- Mach V
- Road Race Engineering
- ExtremePSI
- MAP

You've just got to price around and depending on your specific needs and plans for the setup of the intercooler you go from there.


Having a crack in the hotside of the turbo is very common on the 14b/16g housings, I don't think I've seen one that doesn't have a crack besides a BRAND NEW one. That stud is supposed to be there, your o2 housing is held to the turbo's hotside by 3 bolts and a nut thats threaded onto that stud. o2 Housing OEM Bolt/Stud Set You'll want to re-use the stock 2g o2 housing, its bigger than the 1g's and it will bolt right up to a 14b/16g turbo.

Take a picture of the Part Number on the compressor side of the turbo please and post it up!

I know theres a way to recomend people for doing an above and beyond job. But i dont how to do that.
You have helped me more then once and I really appreciate it man!

On that note, i plan on getting the punishment racing front mount. Therefor what kit would best fit me? the first two are too expensive, but will the j pipe from extreme psi work with my future intercooler set up?

I plan on droping a ton of money soon. And all install it at the same time.

This is a perfect example of why you should decide what FMIC setup your going to run before you get the 16g install kit. The PR FMIC comes with all the piping you need to run it from the turbo to the IM, and you wouldn't be able to use the ExtremePSi j-pipe.

I would call ExtremePSi @ 1-(800)-PSI-4502 and tell them you want everything in their 16g install kit except the intercooler pipe and j-pipe. That 16g kit looks like it might also come with an oil feed line coming off the oil filter housing, I suggest running an oil feed line from the head since theres less pressure. You might ask them which oil feed it is and if they can throw in the oil feed from the head instead. Oil Feed From the Head
