How can the 16g turbos on ebay be only $200???

I was looking up rebuild kits and I came across quite a few of them. Whats the deal? You know the old saying if its too good to be true....

You have to look closely, anyone advertising a new big 16g turbo for $200 is a chinese knockoff. ANY turbo that says TURBOCHARGER on the turbo is a knockoff.

There are a few people around my area running 16 to 20 psi and it holding all day long and they are still running strong and i know 2 of them have had the turbos for about 800 miles and they have ran then on the strip a few times as well so i dunno. Your just rolling the dice.

God no. Do a search on here and youll see how "good" they are.

im not saying they are good LOL thats just what i have seen and you are rolling the dice with them ive only seen 4 that are still running past 500 miles but i can say they are ticking time bombs :)

I run an ebay td05h-20g at 22 psi on 91 octane for about 3000miles and still no shaftplay. It is still pulling strong, maybe i'm just lucky with it. If it blows, I will buy something better for sure like Fp turbos

Wow! Two different sides of the fence here.

Here's my thought, purchase one and install it. Get the rebuild kit and fix my original this way I can i can still get to work Monday morning. Funny, everything I seem to take apart on this car goes from in theory an easy job to a horrible mess!!

Was kinda hoping for a response on my "theory"....

for sure is junk but sometimes it can do the job if you don't have the means to buy something better for now. If you have the money, go buy FP, turbonetics, garrett, holset... don't lose your time with ebay turbo.!!

I wish i had the $$$. Thats why im looking into "temporary" solution's..

Drive something else until you can fix your car.

Man why didnt I think of that???? Oh thats right I dont have anything else to drive...

I'd rather look for something used on craigslist as long as it's real MHI

I've checked. That kinda worries me too. Who knows what kind of life that turbo had before hand. I'm thinking that most of you guys are right. Looks like I'll just take my chances with a rebuild kit, pull the car apart Friday after work and hope I dont run into any issues...

It can go both ways, I've had my Evo 3 16g on my car for over 1,000 of my one mines and what ever the previous owner put on it. It's not MHI because it doesn't say TD0H on it and it also has DSM Evo 3 16g and turbocharger stamped on it.

All in all, I guess I got lucky, so there could be some good ones out there. I've also heard to definitely stay away from the ones that say Evo 3 GT on them.

Get an MHI though. I'm getting rid of this thing for a Holset, even though it still runs great.

16g turbo check it out i dunno if its an mhi or not but its worth a shot
