The brake shields weighed maybe 5 lbs for all of them, probably less. I didn't weigh them though. I took them out a couple years ago when I did big brakes all around.

I don't think I'd go cutting out the floor to save weight, that's for sure. And I didn't understand what you meant anyway Black Bullet, why cut out stuff only to weld it in again?

Oh, I was saying ive seen this done on a honda were they cut out certain parts of metal on the flooring and welded like ligh weight stainless steel metal paneling to replace some of the floor board. Most recently I saw it done in an import tuner magazine done on an Acura Rsx that they were building for 700hp ( weighed less than the stock flooring I guess? ) and from the results posted it was a significant weight reduction when they were done thats why I was wondering if anyone else did it... I wasnt saying im going to do it, its just a thought and was wondering if anyone did this. I know theres a guy with a 2g on this forum and i remember him saying in a thread he took out a lot of weight doing it, i need to look for the thread he said it in...

A buddy of mine removed the seat brackets that are spot welded on the floor of his 1G, and it completely compromised the structural integrity of his floor. There wasn't even enough support to have the seat bolted down. He ended up re-welding them back in place to bring strength back to the floor. As far as I know, there are only two places in the DSM that you can safely remove the floor: The hatch area (cut between the frame rails), and the backseat area.

good stuff bro i will most definetley be using this as a template i did a little miled removal but soon enough i will be doing this, what do you think you dropped your weight to i would love to know
