It's not and never has been about which is better, it's about how this product started off in the world. The way it was promoted and handled.

Link is "better" because it is professional, we never have to worry about the forums disappearing over a "my penis is bigger" argument. What makes it worth the price tag and why I would choose it over DS-Map is not the cost or functionality, it's the stability of the people behind.

Good luck Flex and those who choose to go this route. Just don't blame those of us who decided that Link is a better investment and more likely to be around next year. That's the cold hard truth of it.

I will never use link for the exact opposite reason. EVERY jackal thread has a post from link on it. The only reason for that would be shameless self promotion and to throw the thread of topic, disrupting any progress that could have been made. That seems completely ridicules and unprofessional. Im sure some people gave up on jackal because it was so hard to find info through all the nonsense and arguments.

I dont know how many times i seen them dissing jackals logging capabilities and promoting their own. Even the way they exaggerated their harmless intent was just complete bs. When i ever get the funds to finish my 2g project i'll be running tunerpro.

I don't think there were too many dsmap or link threads where the software developers/owners were chiming in and promoting the products they sold, as much as it was the people who ran their software. It did happen, but most of the debates and drama were a product of the non-employees of each project.

And I'll ask again... let's move on.

Well Chris, you know my character, so this should come as no surprise to you...

Why should we move on? This thread is going to be read by new members current and future and will be in one way or another a contributing factor in their purchase or decision to go elsewhere. Why should we just let it drop without pointing out the things that are relevant here? THAT to me is the true disservice to them and this site.

Someone has to point out the potential problems that this is going to cause. Two people working parallel but not together on a tuning option, which it is clear they have bad blood and will not share with eachother, is a potential nightmare. Who do you believe? How do you know which is safer, more functional, better supported? How do you know if one piece of information is useful on both ends of the spectrum or just one?

It's not my fault people like the above do not understand what the word better in quotations means or that they are not viewing this on a higher level of thought.

And you know mine.

Why move on? Because everything that has been said in this thread and many others regarding dsmap will bring any newbie up to speed on the history pretty easily. If they can't figure it out without a summary that includes insults, then they have bigger problems than tuning. Telling people they're stupid isn't necessary, and violates our posting policies. So before people break more rules, I'm asking everyone to move on. Everything that needs to be said has already been said in terms of the drama that has taken place.

My junk just went 11.95 at 115 on Jackal. Same setup on Link went 12.44 same day :)

I wish that Flux and Hak wouldn't have gotten into it but it is what it is.

Flux (Jonathan) was the one doing the server hosting. Flux hit the road and pulled the plug.

This means you A. Didn't complete your tune fully on Link or B. Drove worse or C. Were experiencing different conditions in some form during the Link pull.

Go ahead and post your slips from both.

At least my comments didn't indicate which was better performance wise. Yours is blatant flame-bait.

I'd probably care what you had to say, if you were around for the beginning of this. But, you weren't, so you have no idea what I am talking about and posting another "let me pretend to be mature and ask for this conversation, that already exists, to not exist" post is useless.

For the rest of us, my post should sum up the truth of the age-long argument, that technology wise there is no real advantage, it's about the stability of the creators.

Oh man.. What gives you the right to talk to 907dsm like that? He's simply trying to move past all the shit YOU are continuing to stir up, don't get bent because he called you on it. Arrogant prick

Hey want to hear a novel idea? How about you let people do a little something called research? That way they can make a decision on their own, hmm wow, what a concept.. It's not like there isn't enough biased bullshit (exactly what you're spouting btw) floating around about link and jackal.

Where's the middle finger smiley??

Sorry that both you and 907dsm are incapable of deciphering the English language.

I'd rather be arrogant than a tool.

I'm absofvckinglutely capable of deciphering the English language, thanks. :thumb:

You are both. :tease:

Oh yes, I am both arrogant and a tool because some clown on the internet thinks so.

Here are the facts:

1. I made no claims to one being better than other on the technology side of things. You did, and the rest of your fan boys. That makes you arrogant.

2. Tom of ECM Link has never uttered a single negative word in any of the creators posts here or elsewhere, some Link owners may have, but they don't represent a company. The creators of this option started out right away by calling their product better than Link, bad mouthing Link and they did it in their forums and others. You refuse to accept that. That is where you become a tool.

Sorry that you can't decipher that the concerns I brought up are of where the software will go with it's current community split like a freaking coconut over stupid religion and politics. The "better," notice the quotations, comes into effect as the stability and lack of in-fighting over at Link make me feel more confident over the support and longevity of the product as compared to others.

I have no opinion good or bad as to the "performance" of Jackal, DS-Map, Ostrich. I know it's not as user friendly, and I know it can handle everything Link can for the most part.

So yes, you are an arrogant tool, and I am a realist.
