Yes, you can use the ostrich in your 2g. You will need a tunerpro bin/xdf to do so. Jackal doesn't support and probably has no plans of supporting the 2g community.

Are you kidding me? The only things I ever saw anyone open to were getting werewolf done, and adding stupid things like various alarms and such. Instead of concentrating on important things like improving the serial comunications speed (an area LINK currently has a huge advantage in btw), HAK spent time arguning with Chris, Talking about getting WW done, and trying to prove that load based maps are horrible.

I FLAT ASKED HAK WHAT QUALIFICATIONS HE HAD THAT ALLOWED HIM TO SAY THAT PRESSURE BASED MAPS ARE BETTER THAN LOAD BASED, AND I WAS PROMPTLY BANNED. Instead of sacking up and stating that hes not a powertrain enginer, he banned me, and couldn't cite any sources for his statements.

Honestly, 90% of JACKAL (you included) users don't make enough power to notice any of the shortcomings of JACKAL. Once you start getting into the 40+lb/min territory with turbo's that don't spool like a 14b you need very dynamic control of timing, and logging with a lot of samples per second. Both of which JACKAL does not offer. When I started looking for a simple fix for the timing issue, I was told that I didn't need it, and I needed permission to work on the code. Both from people who were still running 14b's.

Thats weird, last time i was on there there was an on going thread of a guy who made 650+awhp on a 35r and a pretty legit set up.

You must have been a real dbag to get banned from their site. They were always extremely helpful and active. Ive seen quite a few arguments that ended up helping both parties and never got very heated, just more of a debate.

Hak did manage to find a 2 month old backup after blowing my cell phone up the past 2 days. I don't think the site will recover back to what it was. He's not around enough and he's upset quite a few people with the way he acted. Oh well, we'll see what happens. I'm not going back to help him and that should say alot because I was very committed to that place.

Life goes on, the people of ds-map made it what it was, not Hak. I did a LOT of PR work with people, talking to them, going to events, explaining things in layman's terms, and really pushing the free solution we had. I am no longer interested in doing this for someone that is going to treat the people that matter the way they did.

I'm sure if you asked him he'd say he owns it. If you ask me Mitsubishi owns the eprom code and I'd be willing to bet they didn't give anyone permission to reverse engineer it.

He may have wrote the Jackal GUI but that's about it. Most of the code patches to the E931 binaries were done by Ray Peters, Busta, and Dave W.

In the meantime, let's try and wind down the complaints and finger pointing. The drama exists and we'll work to keep it under control around here like we've always done.

It's not and never has been about which is better, it's about how this product started off in the world. The way it was promoted and handled.

Link is "better" because it is professional, we never have to worry about the forums disappearing over a "my penis is bigger" argument. What makes it worth the price tag and why I would choose it over DS-Map is not the cost or functionality, it's the stability of the people behind.

Good luck Flex and those who choose to go this route. Just don't blame those of us who decided that Link is a better investment and more likely to be around next year. That's the cold hard truth of it.

I'd probably care what you had to say, if you were around for the beginning of this. But, you weren't, so you have no idea what I am talking about and posting another "let me pretend to be mature and ask for this conversation, that already exists, to not exist" post is useless.



For the rest of us, my post should sum up the truth of the age-long argument, that technology wise there is no real advantage, it's about the stability of the creators.
