Hak and Flex are having a disputed, but its effecting everybody now. I was about to make a thread about this. I want to keep in touch with everybody for that broad, there is A LOT of good info loss now. However I want us Jackal users to try to keep the support going. So if anybody has any questions, please ask, I will try to help as much as I can.

I'm just at a loss that one person can feel the need to shut down a whole website over some differences. Either way this is a low blow to everyone on there that has followed ds-map. Hopefully they will solve there differences and get the site back up.

Thats because its not talked about much on tuners anymore. But it is a great setup for us 1g guys.

I really don't know.

I'm just at a lose that one person can feel the need to shut down a whole website over some differences. Either way this is a low blow to everyone on there that has followed ds-map.

I feel 100% the same way. I'm lucky enough I got Jackal to talk to my Ostrich before the site when down, but since I'm still waiting on a part to make my datalogging cable, I really didn't even start tuning VE with Jackal yet.

Unfortunately, that was heavily due to the tactless approach that the management of that project took to advertise the project. Respectfully, it was was mismanaged from the start. It's a shame too, because the product looks adequate. At one point (long ago), I had every intention of running it on my 1G.

And the thing I don't really get. In the G35-G37/350Z-370Z world we don't care what EMS you are using as long as it make power. Every EMS has it's pros and cons.

^looks like me and you are in the same boat. I searching the net on tips on adjusting soft VE and hard VE, which is petty much all that has to adjusted in Jackal as far as tuning your car goes. You can find the deadtimes for your injectors here and apply that to your tune.

I was wondering the same thing. I had to reformat my laptop and lost all the map software. Ofcourse i never back anything up either. Is it possible for someone to host/share it?

On another note i was pretty disappointed in the way this site allowed Jackal's threads to be filled with nonsense and arguments started from competitors(Link). No other vendors threads allow competitors to post and criticize their products. A free product as great as what dsmap is/was offering should have been praised by the dsm community, not been forced underground so to speak.

Im not sure why this site is so pro link and anti jackal but it is very disappointing. Those guys are amazing, the data logging cable they recently created is really unmatched by anything else available. Beside the fact they were offering a superior product(speed density) compared to those awful sliders. Its really a shame. They put in alot of work to aid the dsm community in a way no other vendor ever has, and they dont get the respect they deserve. In my eyes it hurts the credibility of dsmtuners as a whole.

Make sure you flip the coin and look at the other side. I'd link you to the ds-map thread with his tin-foil hat rantings about our site (reflective of how he acted here), but the site seems to be down.

Ok well every thread with any association to jackal has a post from link in it. Why was that allowed to happen? Every post even harmless posts took the threads extremely off topic untill it was 20 pages of non sense. Its very hard to find any info on tuners about jackal because of that.

Hey now, I was just responding to a post that already existed. I do agree, though. Keeping the cars running and tuned is what the site is for.

Well.. this really isn't the thread to be disputing Link vs. Jackal... So, if you guys want to keep this open I suggest you stop bickering about it.

Since I "was" a Mod over there I guess I feel you guys are owed an explaination as to what happened.

Well... I'm not sure how much any of you follow what's said on there or what threads you read. But, there was a thread created about religion and politics, in which things between Flux and Hak got pretty tense. Long story short... If you don't know it already the site/chatroom and all ds-map.net entities received a new server about a month to month and a half ago which is hosted by Flux's brother in his apartment. Once things in the thread got questionable, Hak took Flux's Mod priviledges away so he couldn't do any damage to the site as a mod. Well, that didn't sit too well with flux and he pulled the plug on the site...

Now, I've talked to both Flux and Hak and I believe both guys did some pretty shitty things. Supposidly, Flux gave Hak a certain amount of time to pull all the DS-Map.net data off of his brothers server and I'm assuming Hak did not use that time wisely. Anyways, I'm not sure when the site will be back up, or if it ever will. There is word of a new site/forum but the theme and address of the site are still in the making.

If you guys need any help that are converting to Jackal let me know, I'm sure I might be able to help you out in some fashion.

TO provide an update on the current state of DS-Map.net, there was a dispute as to the supervision of the site. Moderators deleted and editing posts in an informal thread. The dispute lead to one person removing permissions from another moderator, who was the one who setup the hosting for the site. That person declared that they would not assisting in hosting for a site that acted against his personal ideas and requested the data moved to another host. The data was not removed after a number of days and so the server was shut down.

The dispute is as yet unresolved. Please PM me if you have any technical questions and I'll see what I can do when I can. I provided some of the write-ups for creating easy tuning solutions from logger information.

DSM ECU is under development as an open source solution to the rights discussion currently under way with speed-density development for the 1g dsm. The site was started this morning, so we'll have to see where it goes from here.

It's unfortunate that their site is down. But honestly, with all of the things I went through a while back with the management of that site, I can't say I'm completely surprised. Seemed to me like it was just a matter of time before some other conflict came up that hurt the growth of that project.

Anyone who wants to discuss this project with other users of the software can do so in our Tuning forum. We'll have the mods watch over the arguments that have plagued past discussions. Though it seems we've lost some of the disruptive personalities that created some of those problems in the past so it might not be so bad this time around.

We'll watch the tuning discussion. As it will be for people using the software, not a discussion over "which should I get, and why", I don't think much will happen in there that shouldn't.
