Ok i was planing on puting a brand new ACT 2100 Clutch with a ACT Flywheel 'cause i was having problems shifting gears , and i told my friend about it and he said it may be my master cylinder or my slave clutch, but the thing is that my slave clutch its almost new it only has a couple thousands miles (8 to 9,000) and my master cylinder looks good and it does not seem to leaking. I'm having problems mostly when the car its warm specialy when im in the city (stop light after another) its hard to put it on 1st gear , sometimes i can't even put it in, but when it goes in, it grinds allot, so does reverse. The rest of gears are a little hard but not as bad as 1st and reverse. And my clutch pedal feels a little soft than before.

Have you checked the clutch release arm and fulcrum ball? When they go bad it's a bear just to get it in first.. also with the clutch in, go into 2nd and then up to first...grinds way less

The Master usually leaks inside the car... so pull the carpet back and look for a puddle dripping from it, if it's fine and you're not loosing any fluid i'd say the arm and ball are your main culprit..also go to the vfaq page and read up on adjusting the clutch.

Good Post, however there needn't bee a puddle. Fluid on the arm of the clutch rod is enough to indicate an issue. The VFAQ Adjustment guide is for 1gs, just an FYI.

Did you adjust your clutch pedal properly when you installed the clutch/flywheel? If not you need to do that..

^^^+1 on the above comments

*IF* you do end up replacing the clutch/flywheel, go ahead and replace the fork (release arm) and fulcrum ball, as well as the master cylinder if you think it is aging. It would be good to upgrade the rubber clutch line w/ a stainless steel braided line like the one from RRE. Oh, and be sure to us an OEM style throwout bearing that is plastic sleeved.

Hate to tell you this, but how hard do you drive your car?? When I first got my car new in 98, I drove the crap out of it... Meaning doing high rpm launch, power shift... not daily but when people pull up to me. My car did the same as yours, it was hard to shift into 1st and grinds into reverse. Clutch paddle sticking to the ground, had to replace master cylinder under warrantee and same issue. One day, I was at a stop light and light turn green and I had to force it into 1st, try to shift it to 2nd and would not come out of 1st. I force it back out from 1st and tranny went to sh!t. Lucky thing my car was 40k miles and was cover under warrenty.

After all, I stop driving it like mad and she has been good to me since. Look into your tranny...

I really dont drive it that hard you know, dont even go over 4000 rmp while shifting, but i will look in my trany?

One last question. Should i replace the rear main seal once the tranny its off? or should i leave it alone if it looks ok?
