Lordpaxin said:ive seen 2 different grades of CF hoods, "Race" and "Rice" IE is it really super lightweight for weight loss ideas, or just to look sweet ass.
the less you pay, usually the quality is less. Mine is a oem hood for 2g. and right over the exh manifold is a crack, from the heat, it didnt come with a head blanket, so im trying to fab one on as we speak.
also, since they are really thin, driving down the road and on the interstate expect to see that thing jump in the middle up and down what looks like an inch. when passing a semi truck, sometimes i think its goign to fly off my car.
it didnt come with washer nozzles. i dont know if any ofthem do. i had to drill and insert my own.

Well, I do believe that all of the more recently manufactured hoods come with the nozzle holes. My VIS does. I wish it didnt though....Lordpaxin said:it didnt come with washer nozzles. i dont know if any ofthem do. i had to drill and insert my own.

It is rumered that VIS hoods are fiberglass hoods wrapped in carbon fiber. And I'd have to say that I believe it more than I disbelieve it. My hood seems to weigh much more than his but it might be because I painted mine......

Yup, you should be able to see light, silouettes (sp?), and sometimes even color....JiveMasterT said:you can see through carbon fiber?
Quite the opposite, actually. A full carbon fiber hood will be significantly lighter, and much stronger than any fiberglass. Fiberglass is not as strong as most people think.... And a hood having a fiberglass core, just means that it's that much less room for carbon fiber. I've dealt with fiberglass spoilers, hoods, fenders, bumpers, etc. and I can def. say that carbon fiber is stronger. I'm not 100% sure if thats how VIS' hoods really are. I have one, and I like it alot.JiveMasterT said:besides, im sure the fiberglass adds to the integrity of the hood.
It's made by Fiber Images.MitzMadness said:What brand of hood does your friend have?
