theres like 10 different design or weaves that cf comes in. the twill weave which is usually 3k x 3k or 12k x 12k is pretty much what all the cf that is used for looks like the "3d" look. the other weaves are for more strenth but not asgood looking. i make carbon fibers parts like fuse boxes, timing covers, spark plug covers or double or triple pod pillars. if anyone wants pics or is interested in one pm or reply.

The good news is out for 1g people!! I got a carbon fiber hatch and i also bought the lexan window for it. The quality is great i ended up spending like $500 for mine in total. The weight your saving is a hell of a difference i can feel it just by lifting up the stock on with the carbon fiber one that has the lexan so i think its well worth it, if your going for lightness. :thumb:

What's up with the ebay link? Is that hatch legit? Does anyone have this cf hatch on there eclipse? Can't find anything. Wanting to buy

I went ahead and bought the CF hatch from VIS. AWESOME! I will post pics once I get it installed. If you want to see it before I can take pictures of it off the car. Let me know

Im confused i talked to the manager of vis his nae is pete and he said that the hatches they had for 1g's never fit right. So im wondering how you had your carbon fiober hatch for that long and ive been waiting to get anotherone from vis but they wont ever send it because the hatch doesnt fit right. Could you send me a pic of the one your have for your car. Thanks

i ordered one for a 2g from gt fabrications last week (ebay link). was shipped out yesterday. will take pics when i get it in.

TeamFusion- The first pic shows what looks like the center hole for the spoiler wiring or mount. But the 3rd pic shows just a flat surface? Also when you ordered from VIS did u specify "NO HOLES" because ive seen 2 locals here in VA with them and they had the large hole for the rear wiper and for the spoiler wiring/mount.

Also how much and were did you end up getting it from(straight from vis or...)?

If you look closer in the first pic, its not cut out. It looks like its just left with the indent that still needs to be cut out if that hole is going to be used. If you look at the third pic you can see the lines of the cf kind of twist/dip a little where the hole is suppossed to be, lets you know the indent is still there. When I did my hood, I left just the indents for my washer fluid nozzles where the holes are, I wasn't really sure on if I was going to use them or keep them closed. You can only see the indents if you look at it from certain angles. CF is a great at hiding imperfections.

BTW I like it :thumb: Did you find a place for your lexan yet?

The hole is there, it's just in the shade. if you read up, I paid $575 shipped from 5th element autohouse here in orlando, they ordered it from vis. I did not specify holes or none. Looks like to me that I can drill it for the wiper.

are you using lexan or the factory glass w/ defroster and stuff?

hopefully factory.. cause if i get a carbon hatch i would basically get it for the looks as well with the extra weight loss.

Yes I am using the stock glass. Not getting into the lexan

ok, that brings me to my next question... since this is so much lighter and flexible than the stock hatch, will it have problems with the factory glass, or do you think it will be ok?

I'm assuming that it should be OK. i would ask vis they would know the best.. I'm sure that they tested it on another car first.... but I'm waiting for you man.. post up the pictures. even if its on there with out the glass.. let me see what it looks like :thumb:

Vis already told me there will be no problem with the stock glass, will hold it fine. :thumb:

I cant find this on VIS site anywhere I want one bad.

Also I didn't see anyone post the weight of the Hatch, anyone know the amount.

Jim
