from having the rear glass off the hatch on a 1g, I'd estimate the weight at 15-20 lbs. It's not heavy at all. This is of course a 1g though, which has tempered glass. If the 2g had laminated stuff, it would naturally be heavier, but not all that much.
 
Here's those pics of my plexiglass job. The rear window is done now too and it doesn't look much different from the side windows.

Yea really wtf? I duno why but I sware my hatch is twice as heavy as my friends of the same year make and trim lvl.

I would LOVE to have a CF hatch... :cry:


And to the post above :barf: god at least tape off the sides and spray them black so you can't see though the edge.

Then my rear hatch glass has been replaced at some point with some supper heavy shit. I can't even lift it with one hand/arm where as my old one I could with one hand easy.
 
does anyone know if they have carbon fiber trunks for a 96 eagle talon nt ?? if so where would they sell them??? i have heard of them but dont remember who sells them. if anyone can help me out thanks a bunch
 
Squidskins and VIS as far as i know, But does anybody know how to get a custom trunklid made for a spyder??? Nobody makes a spyder trunk lid, i want one badly and will pay whatever i need to get one custom made as soon as i can get the money together.
 
You know FAl makes lexan windows for a 1g, 2g also I think. They dont scratch like like normal lexan and they look about like stock.

if only they made something that was as light as lexan and was able to have a defroster hooked up to it, id be sold.

So is this thing actually for sale? Is prostreet the only place that sells it?
 
I would definitly consider buying one (assuming they matched the quality of VIS CF hoods). But 2 deciding factors make me not want lexan: no rear defroster, beging placed in pro class at any track. So if the hatch worked with a factory glass window I would consider it. Also would it have the holes drilled in it for the rear windshield wiper. I no alot of people shave them, but I love that thing...I hate driving cars without one.
 
just got a response...

Patrick, unfortunately we don’t have a picture of it. It does include the hole for the wiper and will be able to support the factory glass.

that's good news... too bad its like $600. if i could see it, i might be more inclined to buy it.

im sure you could always just find some sort of rubber plug that fits in the hole to cover it up. it wouldnt really be noticeable.
 
the cf hatch will save alot of weight with the lexan... anyone ever replaced the shocks on their hatch? yeh the thing's damn heavy. im getting my cf hatch and turbo spoiler this coming month but from Squid Skins in Canada, plus it's cheaper.

Lexan is street legal if it is glued on and not riveted (or could be both). lexan can also be tinted for those concerned with cosmetics, depending on the shape of the lexan panel of coure.

an alternative to lexan is "speed glass". speed glass is more expensive, just as light, and more durable than lexan, i.e. it will not scratch like lexan... but again... its pricey

the problem with lexan and speed glass on a daily driver is that you loose your rear defroster. thats what i wanna keep. if i got a cf hatch it would be mostly cosmetic.

hehe i dont need my rear defroster... i dont have a rear view mirror! HAHA :cool:

i bet VIS has a nice finish on it too if u want it for cosmetic
