hi, i wona upgrade my turbo on the gsx, and there is so many choices dont know which one to buy, so i asking you pepz wich turbo is best for under 1k for street/strip setup thanks,
 
it looks like youre wanting to make 400-500 hp. youre in the same boat i am. do you have the money to buy these turbos right now?

i would look at test/dynos of each of the turbos. find out which one meets your needs. what exactly do want to do? autox, drag, or just a really fast street car?

for a street car you definately dont want the ETE 73. if i remember that is a full on drag turbo. it will have a massive spool up time so you probably wont even use it in regular traffic. also its $800 or more than any other turbo you mentioned and will require the most supporting mods and tuning.

i would go with the garret T40E. it makes more hp with a single than the t3/t4 does and at www.automotosport.com it is slightly cheaper than the aforementined turbo.

The Mitsu big 16G and 20G are good strong turbos for a 1G. They both have large HP potential and are a direct bolt on for the 1G.

The big 16g will get you near 350hp and into the 12's. The 20g will get you a little more hp and better time.
 
You should also check out slowboy racing. Look at there customer link and see what theyare offering. Matt lives near me and says he is at 496hp right now with his FWD 2g. So with a lighter 1g you can probly do the same and have faster times. He has his mod listup and maybe you could take a few pointers from that.

adrenaline : well i have the money to buy the the ETE 73 and i want it for drag i was thinking of street too but since you say its not a good idea i will only use it for drag and i have enough for the highest upgrade for it .............97gsturbo: thanks but im really looking for the highest hp with turbo so i might get the ETE 73 since its said to the the best, also to all you guys you mention all the turbos i did i mean thanks but it really didnt answear my question so im thinking ETE 73. thank you ! what do you guys think?
 
Ok. well i'm kinda new to all of this with a stock 90 GSX i need it to be fast and i have money but i just don't know what to get for a TURBO for the best over all 1/4 mile times...i've been told the Big G16,20g,T3/T4 but what is the best one..and then what mods. should i have for this turbo to run right....i've been told upgrade Intercooler & intercooler piping, but i need help b/c this summer everyone in my town has CRX,civic's,and a couple older Supra's and no one really does anything to there cars but just tell me don't get a DSM there a peace of shit....and i just say just wait...and i need all of your help to show them with a True DSM can do...Email me or reply to this message ( [email protected] ) thanks Race for like Don't stop till the rubbers gone:::::
 
i'm new to DSMs, but i've been import tuning and been friends with import tuners for years now. from the homework i've done i would say the big 16G turbo is a good bet. it claims 303hp, which is enough to school any of the old school supras and definately the crx's. the Stage one upgrade given on this site is basically a sound set of steps to follow to beef up ur DSM. goodluck
 
just go over the tuning guide. choose 300 or 400 hp, whichever one you want to strive for. get everything, then go do some dyno-tuning. by the time you get that far, you should have some good knowledge of what you are doing...

yea i've done alot of looking at this stuff and i just wasn't sure b/c i know the 20g has more lag then the 16g but in the top end hp the 20g is the one to go with, and upgrade fuel system,3in all the way,k&n air filter,ic piping,550 or 660 injectors,w/g,AFC,BOV,and i think thats about what i need if i'm missing anything tell me i'm pretty sure thats it ...thanks for everyones help
 
Bang for the buck the new PTE turbos are worth considering. Internally gated means you dont have to add an external wastegate, and the plumbing associated with that. It bolts to the stock manifold and O2 housing, so you can keep those, or upgrade later as you see the need to. $995 is really good deal for a turbo with its capabilities.

The AGP stuff is great too. You get alot more performance stuff with their kit. If you are planning on upgrading the manifold, O2 housing, etc, then their kits are great deals.

Just realize that with any good turbo like this, you'd have to have a good bit of supporting mods to take advantage of all the air they can flow.

Our base kit with 57trim turbo is all you need for a very mean street car. You can get a little more pump gas performance out of the 50trim upgrade but not needed.

Well my daily driver that was supposed to stay stock isnt gonna be stock anymore. I blew my tubo and me being the way i am, if it breaks why not upgrade?
I dont know much about turbos and even less about turbos for DSM's I was wondering what the best bang for the buck turbo is. Like i said it was supposed to be my stock daily driver, but ive been having lots of fun eating rice in it so why not make it faster and eat more rice :p Im gonna keep the boost turned down most of the time anyway (well at least i say that now ;) )
What would be my best choice? How uch boost can i get from it and how fast could i go? I need to know brand manes so my guy can set up a account with them and i get it cheap :D
Also if anyone is in the long Island NY area do you know any good shops to do the install?

If you upgrade the turbo more than likely you are gonna have to upgrade a few other things to unlock the full potential of your new turbo. I would suggest a basic 16g because it's fairly cheap and a 16g can easily power you to quick times.
 
yea i was planning on doin a few other things in the near future....I just have to get a turbo on there now cuz i still have to drive the thing and rite now im smokin and burnin oil like crazy.

Im turbo retarted..who make the 16g?

LOL yeah i read that...but like i said im turbo retarted and i need it asap. I spent all the time i had on the net yesterday and didnt really come to any conclusions, so i fugured i might get better answers quicker here.
