haha thanx but i have a friend whos a dealer..he said find what i want and hell set up account with them and i get it at cost :)

Just FYI...SBR doesn't make the turbo(s), so it won't be 'at cost' no matter who sets up what. They might swing a deal if your friend buys several.

I know the perfect turbo for u its a custom get that u could get made somewhere, get a b16g compressor side with a 20g turbine side, that should give u a great spool with some mad top end have fun my friend did it and he loves it, doesnt beat my 50tim t/3t/4 but its good

I got a link to decently priced turbos this guy will build anything to your liking Any combination thats possible this company can probably do it for a good price.

give them a call when u determine what kind you want to go with.

Thanks for reviving that thread, that was the best flamefest I've read in a while!

I wonder if the moderators or someone could set up a search to find threads like this? It sure would be more convenient. Until then, searching for "NosLaser" will have to suffice! : )

i was wanting to know what the best turbo upgrade on a stock engine would be....but the thing is that i dont want to go with a 16g.....i know i have to do other mods as well like exhuast fuel system and so on....so far i have the S-afc, 255 HP walbro fuel pump, some guages and i will be getting some 550's or 660's, but i dont know which ones to get, i will also need a 2nd gen mas or something of that sort....but i am mostly working on gettin my fuel system down before anything else, and leaving the turbo for last..

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

well do you whats your goal? and do you want to change your waste gate... so yah... T28, T3/T4 50 trim, 14b, 18g, 20g

i want to push the stock engine to its limits...my buddy told me that a stock engine can handle the green turbo, so i might be getting that...but for now i have to stick with the stock one through the break in process..so through that time i will be gettin everything else done and leave the turbo for last......also i would probably need some 660's for this turbo.....does anyone have this turbo, or know anyone that has one, and how it performs.....

Thanks

need some help from the fwd guys out there... i have a 95 fwd turbo and i want to get deep into the 12's. naturally, the best turbos for fwd's will be those that do not see full boost until higher rpm's and make good top-end power. can this be accomplished with a tdo5-20g or would one have to use a tdo6-20g?

right now, i have my heart set on a slowboy racing sbr-2g-20g because it is a direct bolt-on for 2g's. this turbo uses a tdo5 turbine but can be upgraded to a tdo6 for an extra $100 (whether or not it would still be internally gated or not, i don't know).

also, what size injectors would i need for each of these turbos? 550's or 660's? any advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

Get the TD06 20G, as it will spool a hair slower and have better top end. Also, get the 660's as the 2G ECU don't like to see a lot of airflow. The 660's are much bigger than what you need, but when you lean them out with the AFC, the ECU doesn't see much airflow, and will give you much more timing, which = power!!!

I would have to say the td06 20g and 660 injectors. GET 660 injectors, much better than 550 because not only the 2g ECU dislikes a lot of airflow but also because you will need more than 550´s if you plan on pulling on the highway (you will be tempted with all the top end this turbo has). So basically either that or a t3/t4 turbo (50trim if you plan on using only pump gas). A LSD wouldnt be too bad of an idea as well.

I've heard 20G's are easy to "overspin", that and they fail in comparison to the t3/t4....and the 50 trims are cheaper.

Tallen,
Don't know where you heard that from but it's not true. How do you "overspin" a turbo? ANY turbo can fail, plain and simple. A 20G uses the same CHRA as a 14b/16G, just diff. comp. wheels (diff. turbine wheel if you get the TD06 wheel). A turbo only has so many revolutions before it dies.

So, if you are constantly on boost ALL the time, yes the life of a turbo will be considerably shorter than if you just drive around like a grandma all day long. Considering my stock 14b has 142k on it and works perfectly, speaks volumes for the quality of Mitsubishi CHRA's.

A TD05H 20G can be had brand new for $825. Still cheaper than any bolt on 50 trim I know of. The TD06H 20G is a bit more, at $1000, but the Mitsu turbos have ALWAYS been WAY overpriced for what they are. All the turbo dealers won't come down in price on the mitsu stuff, but they will. As you can see, the FP Green/Red has dropped in price. They didn't do anything differently, don't use any diff. parts, but people see that there are cheaper alternatives, so they had to lower price to keep selling them.

It's the way the business works. Someone comes out with a good product at a lower price, the others usualy have to drop their price in order to stay competitive. This wasn't the case with Mitsubishi turbos for the longest time since there were NO other alternatives, until these PTE units came out. I mean, look at the prices of the other hybrid turbos. Franks, Mutts, etc. All well over $1200. Nobody budged when it came to a Mitsu housing based turbo.

The game is totally different now. Enjoy it while you can.

Mike

If you're into SBR. spend the extra cash and get a M50 with a td06h turbine wheel. Flows more than a 20g. 660's will be fine. I have 550's as of right now. You can actually get away with 550s with increase fuel pressure, but just do it right and get 660s. I have the M50 and it's totally awesome top end wise. It's basically a green.

Well I would go with the TD06, as it gives you more to play with than the tdo5, making it just a little easier to accomplish your goals. If I'm not mistaken they are internally gated(but of course you can change that if need be). Go with 660/720s....it's just doing it right if you are going to be running an excess of 18 psi. If don't have one yet, get a front mount intercooler, or you'll just be wasting power. I have a b16G and a smic can't even handle that......can't waith until I get rid of the both of them. :)

hey guys i was wondering whats the best turbo i should go for. i was thinking to go for FP 20g or a FP red. what do you guys think? any info would be appriciated. i got pretty much all the free mods what else would i need. should i go for an external wastgate or an internal? should i go do any internal work or what? thanks for all the info guys!

^ what he said. The goals for your car would be nice to see, we can get a better idea of what YOU want out of the car.

On a side note I would recommend a dual stage BC, it will help some along with a LSD and the TMO chip for launchs.
