A friend of mine is looking to get a MBC for his GST. I told him electric is the way to go, but he doesnt want to spend a couple of hundred dollars on one. I'm not too, too familiar with MBCs so which would you all recommend. Remember, he really doesnt want to spend too much money on one, but wants one that will do the job.

he asked about the $30 or so dollar ones from ebay, those any good?

thanks gang.

My Turbo XS boost controller will be for sale very soon here.
Time to go back tothe old proven HKS EVC EZ

Are you saying you are running 18psi and it's spiking higher, or it's spiking TO 18psi?
When I originally installed my boost controller, I was topping out at above 18 PSI. I figured out how to fix it that day (after hours of messing with the fine an coarse adjustments) and now I am at 15 and holding steady. My point was just that the installation was horrible and I just don't think it is the best choice given the level of hassle and the price.

I have the Extreme XBC. It holds boost fine,no spiking. It's not the best bang for the buck at 90bucks but it looks good.

Of course, I had to chime in for myself!

Anodized aluminum, ball and spring boost control. $49.95 shipped to the lower 48. I have been selling them for years. They work great!

I myself am trying to choose either the Joe P MBC XZ or the Hallman ES MBC Kit. Would either one be good if further down the road i want to turn the boost up to about 20psi or more?

Best bang for the buck.... Make your own. I made a dual ball spring MBC. Just look at some one elses and go to the hardware store and make your own. Not that hard. I think I have $5 in parts. Looks exactly like a Joe P. or I could change a thing or two and it would look like the Hallman

most people who run high boost 25psi and more use manaul or simple electronic boost gauge HKS EVC EZ or GEDDY PROFEC B

it does make you wonder. I guess some people are just more willing to take a chance with something that they built themselves. I love using home made parts. they are cheaper and amaze people.

I tested my MBC I made. I hooked it out to a regulated air supply and turned up the pressure til it opened. I repeated it several times to make sure it was consistant. Then I installed it on my car and it worked like it did when I was testing it. Consistant and controlled the boost what else could you ask for??

inferiorWang,

Some people don't trust themselves. So they rather buy already made.
Just like all import parts are over price. Because we are willing to pay it.

hey everyone, just curious for your opinions on the best MBC.

i was thinking of the Joe P. or Hallmann but i'm not sure which model to go with.

any input of either personal experiences or what you think would be greatly appreciated!! thanks in advance!

I think it is all preference, but I think they are about the same. I am basing that on reading alot of positive responses to all of them, I have a home made one and I like it because it was free;) ..and because it works. Later Corey

i just bought a hallman ES...going to be installed today. i went with it because everyone said that they were awesome...cost me 50 bucks and took 2 days to get here. it now comes in chrome and even tho its not to shiny, i used polish and it looks real good.

dont listen to those ^^ people...they said that to me too when i asked...its not worth the hassle of making one than just spend a measley 50 bucks for the hallman one. BTW, just put mine in...it was EXTREMELEY easy, with the hose they supplied, i mounted it right behind the pasenger headlight. it only took two adjustments to get it where i wanted after the inital test that they told you how to do. IMO hallman is the best one for your money.
