I am planning on getting a 95/96 talon tsi awd soon (looking at one this weekend). And then I would drive it get to know the car for a little since it will be my first dsm, and then ill build a motor on the side. I would like to get this done befoe the end of the summer.

My budget will be $5,000 after I get the car. I have been searching and I am sort of getting an idea of what i need. I this will be a weekend car for cruising with friends, going to shows, and hitting the dragstrip one in a while. I would like to make 350hp at the wheels.

So, I have read other builds and here is just some things that I think I may need but i am not sure because again this will be my first dsm and project car so im going to need some assistance.

Stronger axles, coilovers, clutch, transmission (rebuild or new)?, engine (what one to get, what internals, setup etc.?) What turbo? Intercooler, engine management, exhaust/intake, fuel pump, flywheel, driveshaft..

When I build this I want stuff to start breaking because i didnt replace/upgrade that part. And for all the parts I want to get the best bang for my buck, even if I have to get soem things used.

what do you mean soft piping? where?

and im not totally new, look at my join date, i have been lurking on here for a while and i have been dying to get a talon and now im praying this one this weekend is my big break, hopefully i can snatch it for 3000 if its up to standards

and one question, if i bring my plates from my car now and i put them on the talon to drive home..whats my chances of getting pulled over, impounded, etc.?

i would find out with the local law. i have bought motorcycles and cars and not had a problem with johnny law when i drive them without plates, but as long as you have a bill of sale and other documentation stating you purchased it that day, we are fine. i would call the local pd.

^ Definitely. Here in CO you can drive without plates for 30 days so long as you have the bill of sale or signed title with you. Purposely using the wrong plates to avoid trouble is "driving with ficticious plates" and will get your car impounded, possibly you put in jail for an overnighter. Ask your local authorities for what is acceptable as far as plates.

I have the same goals so thanks for everyone that chimed in. And my advice to the OP get rid of that plastic bov ! Mine sucked so I swapped out for a 1g bov a nice upgrade. Or whichever brand you prefer good luck with the car

EDIT: Congratulations on buying a DSM from someone who at least has the knowledge of recirculating the BOV. That right there would make me want to buy the car. Ive dished out 3,500 on broken down AWD dsm's. Theyre worth every penny IMO running or not.

What do you mean he recirculated it? where was it originally?

It's not a matter of relocation, its just that more often than not, I see kids putting on 'cold air intakes' and shooting excess air to the atmosphere, which i know can be argued to death by some, but IMO one of the easiest ways to tell if someone has no clue what theyre doing.

when I say recirculated I mean that there's a tube from the BOV to the cold air intake as well as the original piping that it's flanged to that runs to the TB/intake mani.

I hope I'm being clear enough. Just simply stating that the guy who owned youre car before at least had the common sense to not blow off to the atmosphere with out the proper modifications.

It's a good thing bro :rocks:

I'd circle it in the picture, but if my work catches me using photoshop for anything else but work they might just fire me. Uh oh boss is coming.. PEACE! LOL
