DSM best bang for buck?!?!?!

Okay heres the bottom line im 18;; been working as a mechanic in aliquippa PA since i was 15 and bought a 98 GSX when i was 15...
Came to realize that DSM has amazing performace game. And dont even argue 2g DSM's are the nicest looking cars ever?? 4G63 Is one of the most powerful 4 Cyl Engine.. You can buy a DSM with about 50k miles in great condition for 9 grand... Put some engine work in worth about 5 grand and have one of the fastest cars around for a total of 14-15k ?? I dont understand how can you argue with that having a 10 Sec car if you know what your doing make the car look beatiful with some rims new paint job and interior and have a better all around car then a 50 grand Corvetter porsche or Mustang Saleen?? DSM Game is just amazing. #1 in aftermarket parts also. Just put some good work in all for under 20 Grand and you'll Be smoking every single 8cyl Muscle car that comes your way... How much ezier can it get..:thumb:

You got a lot to learn kid. You can't just dump 5 grand into the car and get a "10 second slip".

eh. depends on what your doing, if you want a good looking car that can really perform the 2g is a perfect car.

but the 1g is designed with rally in mind, it has far less body flex. its suspension is able to handle more abuse and the motor was designed with out the "feel good" compromises of the narrow 7bolt manifold and smaller turbo, which make the car feel more nimble around town but really dont help the total performance.

aside from that, if your looking at power or fun for the money, well the 1g awd is cheaper. the stock turbo has more kick when you turn it up and the, the chassis is stiffer and lighter. Im sure some would argue it looks great, but i think the 2g is a iconic shape.

so given the more performance minded motor and turbo+low cost+it was rally homogenated. I think its the best deal going in all of the automotive world. you can pick up a clean awd in good health for 1500.. thats a clean 2door-turbo-awd-rally-car for 1500. thats just nutty, a clean 2.5rs can easily go for 15,000.. thats non turbo! how much would you pay for a used beat to shit evo or wrx... even non sti.

Im in a 2g, cause its pretty. and i did the full 6bolt swap and bigger turbo to address its downsides. its still heavier, and you would have to put a gun to my head before i would jump it. on the flip side you would have to tell me not to if you handed me the keys to a 1 with some ride height. ;)

Most of us has been where you are now, kid. Heck, I remember making a thread sorta like this back in 2002. If you are a shop owner where you can get parts at cost and have a master fabricator and have a master tuner and be luck enough to get a DSM that's in good mechanical condition, then yes. 10 seconds is possible around five grand.

But most of us don't have that. Why don't you break down your $5000 grand list and I'll fill in the holes you are missing.
