Hello all. I’ve been a member for quite awhile, but have been absent from the scene for the last 6-7 years. I finally have my DSM once again and am continuing my project.

1997 Eclipse GSX M/T with 6 bolt swap. 93oct DSMLink v3

Car sat for about 6 years. I put a fresh battery in and disabled fuel/spark and cranked until oil pressure rose. Enabled fuel/spark and car fired right up. I let it run for awhile and noticed the battery light would be on unless I gave it a little gas. It eventually went out.

Fast forward through a 1500mi trip (car was trailered). I unloaded it at my house, put the same battery in and tried to start it - only cranks with occasional backfire if I let it sit for awhile. All dash lights come on (CEL for about 5 sec and then turns off).

My DSMLink will not connect. I no longer have power windows, no electric driver seat, and no sun roof. I’ve checked all the fuses, connectors, relays I can think of. I’ve read numerous other posts with similar issues, but I can’t seem to find one with my exact issues. I’m hoping there is something simple I’m missing before I start taking apart the wiring loom to look for issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!:dsm:

Any ideas or guesses? I’m really stumped on this one. I’m really hesitant to say the ECM is bad since it was just running.

So, you have the 3 basics? Compression, fuel and
Correct. It’s almost acting like the ECM is communicating with only half of the sensors. Physical timing is correct, fuel pressure is good, have spark in all 4, and compression is good. It’ll backfire a couple times if I let it sit for a few hours and try again.

I’m going to double check grounds and make sure I didn’t miss any corrosion or loose connectors.

Was thinking, did you checked your plugs? Where they full of gas? Maybe that's why it backfires and the nothing. It could be that is getting a false reading from the ECT or MAF (if you are not using SD)

maybe is a faulty relay that is not powering all the sensors/ecm.

Check for blown fusible link(s). Sounds like one or more fusible link is blown or/and bad grounds. You should make sure that once again.
