Thanks! Waiting on a few parts to do the ring & pinion swap correctly and it'll be back at the track. Might take this opportunity to pick up a Frontline Fab machined rear diff cover while i'm at it. :)

I guess it's time for some updates...

Had a bitter sweet time at the shoot out. I hit up Friday night's test and tune session and first pass out the car threw a rod right after the 60' mark. While loading up the car on the trailer, a buddy of mine took a look at the log and noticed the 4 bar map sensor was maxed out at 45 psi. (wonder how much boost it was really making) I immediately checked the boost controller and it was turned all the way in. Needless to say, the previous week at the track the car was seeing 33 psi and I had not touched anything since (w/ the boost controller all the way out I was seeing 28 psi).

What would possess someone to setup someone up for a failure like this? My thoughts is that this happened at my local track (Atco) the prior week when I broke an axle. I had the hood up and walked away for a few minutes.

Well, only good news is I'm building my aluminum rod, high compression motor a little sooner....and using ECU controlled boost. Hoping to get the motor done within the next month and hit the track a few more times this season. This winter I plan on putting a bigger turbo on the car...

After pulling the head to see the extent of the damage I was glad to the see the head had not been damaged. Some carnage pics...

With the damage being done, I got a head start on building my aluminum rod motor. I picked up a set of R&R aluminum rods w/ 22mm wrist pins and some 7 bolt 10.5:1 Wiseco HDs. Got the block back from the machine shop earlier this week and I finished assembling it today.

Also decided to swap out the JB 6262 for a BB 6766. Should be fun. :sneaky:

Should have the car tuned next week on the new setup and then hitting the track after that.

how you like the 67mm, my build is going to be VERY similar to yours and i can't decide between the 6766 or the 6466

Can't tell you too much since we ran in to some unrelated issues the first time out on the dyno (converter bolts backed out/broke and balancer separated) but I can tell you from our few pulls the 67 was spooling nearly as quick as my 6262 (2.5pts of extra compression helps) and making good power early. I've pulled the plug for the year so I can finish up the rest of the things I was going to do this winter but i'll have more updates later this winter.

What were those exact spool numbers if I may ask. I've been deciding between the 6466 and 6766 as well.

Took a little break from the car but got back into it yesterday. Ordered up some of my fuel parts (Magnafuel pump, lines, fittings, filters, etc). Also started redoing my harnesses. So far the engine harness is done. Going to finish up the trans and chassis harnesses today. Still need to pull the trans to fix the converter bolt holes after that. Few other things on the list if my time allows for it. Can't wait for spring!

Time for some more updates....

Engine and chassis harnesses are all done! While things were apart, also decided to give the bay a fresh coat of paint. That's been bugging me for a while.

How she sits today.

Still need to finish up the new fuel system (Magnafuel 4301, aluminum fuel cell, new lines, FIC rail, and FIC 2150s) as well as reinstall the trans. Hoping to have the car back up and running some time in February.

Can't wait for track season to get here!

Great progress, I really like the catch can and coolant overflow. Did you fabricate that yourself?

What a transformation, I love the textured look, Looks amazing and your giving my auto some hope!

Thanks guys! It has definitely come a long way from when I started this particular one last year.

A quick before/after shot. I know it's not 100% done in the after pic, but you get the idea. I'll have to redo that pic once it's done...

Also got these new upper and lower mandrel bent stainless rad hoses from JM Fabrications. REAL nice pieces!

What converter are you running that will stall up with this big turbo and no nitrous??

Finished up the hood for the most part. Just needs to be primed and painted at this point. Also started working on my headlight duct...made a template out of cardboard which we'll transfer to some aluminum sheet and connect that to a 4" intake pipe.

Will probably order the rest of the parts I need for my fuel system next week. Beyond that, we're going to build a tubular front end to gain some extra room and ditch some more weight. Hope to have everything done by the end of February.

You and me both! Got some sun burn from welding w/o a mask today. :) LOL!

Broke out the sawzall for some fun. Started off by chopping the upper frame rail in front of the engine mounts as well as the upper rad support. Replaced it all w/ 3/8" round bar and remade all necessary mounts and tabs. The entire upper piece is removable which will make things nice and easy to work on in the future. Pretty much done with it now minus a few mounts but should have that wrapped up early tomorrow. From here i'll chop the lower frame rails and replace that with some chromoly tubing. Coming along nicely so far....

Thanks guys!

Finished up the last of the tabs on the upper piece today but still need to go back and finish weld everything. I needed to take some energy out on something so I moved on to the lower. Breaking out the sawzall again definitely helped. LOL The main hoop is bent and notched already (not in the pic), just need to weld it on and add all the mounts to it. Probably won't have time this weekend but will get back to it Monday.
