Resolved 7 bolt ARP mains (nuts) hitting oil pan recess? Is this normal?

So im not the first on mains i know this but i dont see anyone mentioning the stud nuts hitting the recess of the pan on the rear case area on the main girdle!

I checked and checked again and its just fouling it so i believe the only fix is to dent the pan from the inside a bit to allow the extra soace to allow the pans holes to line up with the block.

Has anyone seen this pop up before in a post or thread?

I put the pan on a used a mallet to knock it into the studs and it left a mark on both surfaces. Its not much but just enough to not allot it to line up well.

Dumb question, but did you chase the threads in the block with a thread chaser?

Second dumb question, did you lightly bottom the studs with an Allen wrench? There sure is a lot more thread showing than I would expect.

Third dumb question, oem or aftermarket pan?

Fourth dumb question, what is the part# for your arp bolt kit?

They are tight. They do show quite a bit of threads like this. We do thread chase and make sure they go in all the way. Then at the end as i recall they JUST clear on the last few i did. I can not remember if i ever had one that would not even with a tap like yours. I think a tap with a mallet would always solve it by memory.

The engine was built buy an Evo specialist so he would of chased and set everything up his end. Same part between them both i believe.

As for the studs sticking out thats not the issue. The issue is the nuts hitting the pan NOT studding.

Its odd i have not seen an issue mentioned on nuts hetting the pan due to the pans pressing recess so im surely not the first one as that would be very odd.

Made a few dinks to flatten out the recess more and hopefully is enough now to not hit the nuts on the ARP's. Seems like a lot of recess for some M6 bolts but its what they did i guess.

Still baffles me all this time reading and sesrching no ones mentioned an issue of a pan hitting the nut before! Truely shocked if its never been logged as an issue on a 7 bolt with ARP mains

So apparently my searching was terrible i googled with a few different wordings and found some pop up but none that were part of a build so quite specific issues. Either way the fix is to do what i did and dink the lan for these 2 locations.

Yes. Has been some years but just a little bit of love taps and all is well. Likely not a ton of info posted about it as everyone myself and you ended up coming to same answer and never posted about it.

While this thread will still stay im going to note this in my build thread also incase it gets picked up there to. Might aswel mention it in places so its known ahead of time IF it gets found
