2G 2g 7 bolt Oil Pan Options

    Im putting together another 7 bolt right now. I just went through all of the pans I have here at the shop and none of them are in nice enough shape. They all look like they where bolted to engines that where dropped on concrete from 10 feet up. No clue how guys do this but I can tell you that it is not uncommon. Smashed in pans........

    So.....are there any aftermarket OEM copy offerings out there? All I can find is the real Mitsu MD332043 and the price is not so friendly.

    Im going to keep searching for a decent used one for now I guess.

    Ive always had a decent enough pan around when needed until now. I pounded the shit out of one of the smashed in ones with the air hammer.......didnt go. Maybe I can get creative with it in the press if I have to.

    Any input is appreciated!

    I'm not quite sure exactly how many 4G63 (DOHC/SOHC) powered Mitsubishis you guys got in the US, but from my observations, almost all 1994-1999 4G63 cars (Space Wagons, Space Stars, Eclipses, Galants) came with the same 7 bolt oil pan, however, the non-turbo ones obviously didn't have the oil return holes cut out, but they still have the flat spot for it. So it's as simple as drilling 3 holes and mounting the oil return on.

    So if that helps, maybe look around for those. I know Hyundai also sported a 4G63 sometimes but I can't say for certain whether their oil pans also had the flat spot for the return line.

    Yeah the oil drains absence would be non issue. If it was a clean pan at a fair price, I'd be in.

    Its looking like there is no aftermarket answers here.

    Looking to confirm this.

    There used to be some aftermarket 7 bolt oil pan, but seems not anymore. You can still find the Spectra 7 bolt oil pan but it's ridiculously expensive now, like 10 times more than the 6 bolt one. I don't know why. Maybe because it's discontinued. I think the OEM is the only option for 7 bolt besides you fabricate.

    RockAuto lists the Pioneer 501017 pan at $54.79, under the 2G DSM GST/GSX. I have a feeling that this is really a Chrysler 420A-style pan, though.

    We should confirm this though. Maybe I will order one up and see what they send.

    I was able to press the main point of impact out on the shop press, then attacked it on an anvil with the air hammer to finish it up. pretty happy with how it turned out.

    Have you looked into the 2.4 blocks oil pan?
    Same minus the turbos oil return line.
    You would have to drill and have a bung welded.

    This. I have a LOT more luck finding N/T 2G Spyder’s than I do 4G63 powered stuff in the local yards. The oil pans are identical (minus the oil drain for the turbo).

    Ive looked to him in the past, but have found that one will typically end up paying maximum used market prices over there.........which can run up the numbers on a budget build real quick........works out on some things though.

    Now that I have a process for a smashed in pan, I dont expect to have this issue again any time soon.

    I took it on step further after my last post and made a dolly/ striking tool which alowwed me to really get in there and nice it up:

    I have the press too and prolly would have grabbed a random 2x4 and pressed on it myself to see what happened, so you don't need to spend any money, just fix the last persons fk ups, it looks pretty good to me.
    Budgets need to be conserved if possible!

    The first thing I grabbed was actually a chunk of a 2x4 but it wouldnt fit through the hole....a 2x3 might fit.
    This is the final product. SEM E coat is a great all around final coat for stuff like this. Its not fussy and always holds up over time.
