I just ordered some ARP main studs for my 4g64 block today, and once I get them installed I want to measure the main alignment so I know if I need to have it machined back in spec for my oil clearances.

Is there a way for me to accurately measure my main bore alignment myself. I have digital calibers and some micrometers, but I'm not sure if this will be sufficient for the task.

Also can some tell me what the factory main bore is with out bearings...?

Just use the factory torque specs and you wont have deflection. The main bolts in our motors is one of the last things you need to worry about failing because they just dont.
 
At any power level....

You could use new ones or arps if you feel like refreshing them but there hasnt been any documented main bolt failures seen in our motor. I have never seen one fail and neither has Buschur.
 
You need a dial bore gauge. To check the main housing bores.

I would still check them and use the ARP torque specs with ARP fasteners.

The metallurgy will be different between the ARP studs and the OE Factory main bolts,
so the stretch factor will differ.

2.4016/2.4024 the housing bore specs for you.
 
Exactly what BogusSVO said.

The easiest way (unless you're a machinist with access to said tools), I would have it brought to a machine shop and align honed if I were you.
 
You won't necessarily see a main bolt fail by breaking but what does happen is that they stretch and will allow the housing bores to distort under load which causes damage/premature wear to the main bearings. To say that the main bolts are not a point of failure is not an accurate statement.
