rochester,
ive had an ongoing argument with a friend about a 6g72 engine swap. its the 3si vr4 engine. dont care if it went in a 1g or 2g, did it ever happen or not, i have found nothing on it.

First off *slap*

2nd I SERIOUSLY doubt that engine would fit..
3rd you would have to have a custom rear end fabed up to hold that power
4th it would ONLY be RWD (which isn't that bad of a thing)
5th you would have to have some custom tranny setup

AND BTW: a 3000GT is a DSM.

And one other thing... A spyder on a GSX ...."FRAME" ...
:| no comment.. someone else can get that one..

na i'll say it.. UNIBODY.........

If you want that engine in something...try a 300ZX.. get a NA cheap and try that engine in it...might be a cheaper alt to a Fair Laidy..(Twin Turbo 300ZX for you num nuts)

Would defently be deferent...

I know there is atleast one other person on the boards here with a GSX spyder, that is difficult, but not as difficult as a 3000gt motor, which I really doubt would fit. However, you might be able to put a 6g73 motor in from an overseas Galant VR4, its 2.5l twin turbo. I have seen people put the NA 2.5l (from the avenger) in Eclipse non turbos. However, I dont know if that engine would be better than a well tuned 4g63.

Speaking of galant VR4s, the '90-91 US Galant VR4's had the 4g63...

Um actuly there is a guy in a local GA club that is doing just that "far as makeing his Spyder AWD"

He said from what he saw, the bottom of the frame was already stamped out for the rear drive shaft and everything that would be needed. All in theory he thought he had to do was just get an AWD tranny, custom drive shaft and botl in the right rear end.

Im SURE it wouldn't be easy as bolting it on.. custom brackets would be needed and some minor welding and drilling im sure.. but according to him it should work without to much of a fuss.. Note I said this is all HEARSAY none is fact.

I just knew it said DSM on the firewall

And to the guy above, are you confirming what I said then? Now that I think about it yea thats a big duh about the fuel tank.. but I didn't hear him mention it so I wasn't thinkin...

If your asking questions such as these, then I highly doubt you will be able to acomplish _any_ one of them....

If it wasn't next-to-impossible, then more people would've done it by now. Now don't let me get you discouraged, by all means please go out and prove me wrong, I would _love_ to see a GSX VR-4 Spyder :barf:

Why not just get a 3G V-6 spyder and put a 'VR-4' sticker on it?

Rogue

I know 5 easy steps to makeing it a reality...

#1 own spyder
#2 drive sypder to one of the best hot rod/custom fab shops in the country
#3 tell them what you want done
#4 lay down $80,000 or more in cash
#5 drive it home

;) Do that and im sure they will have it looking like it came that way from the factory...

short of that, like the guy said above if you have to ask these questions.. it's very unlikely it will happen...by your hands in the near future anyway. (please dont be offended by that)

there is somebocy on dsmtuners that has a GSX Spyder...he bought it that way...from what ive heard they are becoming easier to get done...i think the conversion costs around 5-6000...which is worth it to some...if u search the forums u will find it...its an old post but it is in here...

U dont want to put a twin turbo engine in DSMs...the weight dis would be way off...the car isnt designed to do that...i have a 300ZX TTand it is awesome...but a 3000gt and my car are a pain to work on bc of the tight space....be grateful u can see your turbo in your car...bc i cant on the Z and there are 2

Well first off, thank you guys for your input. And thank you Ripper for lettin me know so nicely... (sarcasum) Anyway im still going to look into it. by what you all have said it would be a one of a kind for sure! If i got a 300ZX id stick with the VG30DETT. Those car put out huge numbers. I would like to have something that was AWD so i think ill stick with a GSX or VR-4. I know im getting a little off the subject now but a friend of mine wants to put a JDM 4G63 cyclone engine in his 95 GSX. He doesnt know much about cars so ill be turning most of the wrenches on it. Is there anything special i should know about the JDM engine? Is it basically bolt in? Are the motor mounts the same? I saw somewhere it said that the AC might get into the way and that i might have to lose it. Not a big deal but my friend would like to keep it if possible. Plus it looks like the TB elbow is small on the cyclone engine so im sure id have to keep the 2G elbow. Anything information you all can give me would help. If anyone has already seen a write up on how to do I would love to see that link. Thanx!!!:talon:

Off subject but just to clear this up. There is a TT 300zx and its not called a fair laidy, there a N/A and TT of both cars as far as i know. From what ive seen 300zx=Not Japan Fair Laidy=Japan or something to that effect. Kinda like a silvia to a 240sx sorta, if im mixed up about something please tell. Im not trying to be MR Jerk man that jumps in and corrects everyone it just sounds like your saying theres no 300zxTT, and you might not even be saying that, LOL, sorry im bored.

1. THWACK...... sound of pine splintering echos in the air
2. It will. Tight with mods to key components.
3. Why? Anyone really looked at the commonality between the cars?
4. Why? Wouldn't it be AWD?
5. Why? Wouldn't it be running the 3KGT tranny?

And the 4G63 or 6G72 haven't

There are 6G72 powered VR4s/Stealths in the mid 10s, 4G63s in the 7s. What haven't they done that the VG30 can?

I have a 300ZXTT and that is what it is called...the fairlady was the name of the car in japan, and they changed it in the us...airgo i have the 4g63 and the vg30dett and i must say id stick with the 4g63 based on the fact that it is easier to work on and there is les problems with them (believe it or not) the 3.0 in the nissan is so packed in there u need to pull the motor to change the plugs...:thumbdown ...yea the TT can put up the numbers...but it costs a lot to make the tires hook up...i love the beauty of all wheel drive(granted my Z has the better looks)

Check out www.dsmtimes.org. There are actully 3 that have run 7s. Click on "fastest"

Most of any car that runs in the 7s has to have chassis modifications...and a tubbed rear end like buschers...Shepard is the fastest stock chassis...in the 8s...and a lot of cars need chassis work to do that:thumb:
