So I just realized how dumb I am. So within in doing the 6 bolt swap on my 2G I failed to realize the 6 bolt is out of a 1G 🤦‍♂️ so half of my 2G shit is basically useless. Would somebody with triple my knowledge be willing to shed some light on what I need to properly throw this engine in?. I do know the trans is the same (thank god) the Half shafts are the same and I can virtually keep everything on the top end given I’m keeping a 7 bolt head on it. Anyways if anymore light could be shed on me that’d be awesome 🫶

Six bolt timing components, Six bolt flywheel, your six bolt water pump will need to be modified or your drivers side motor mount where it goes on the block, either of them need ground down to clear each other, you will need to run a 1g cas since there will be no place to mount a crank sensor on the six bolt block. That is all the major stuff that I can remember off the top, also your head will need the holes in the head opened up to accept the larger six bolt head studs/bolts.

That's basically the gist of it but as for the crank sensor it is possible to run the kiggly 2 tooth crank trigger sensor for the 6 bolt and use the 2g cam sensor with it. I know a few of us have done this already.

Bumping this cus it's somewhat relevant. I'm swapping 6 bolt into a 99 GS-T, which has a blown up 7 bolt. Other than the usual timing parts and such, will the intake manifold from the 99 7 bolt align with the 6 bolt, or do I need to source a new intake manifold too? I know exhaust manifold will bolt up, just not sure what else is needed.

Thanks for that. So I'll need a 1g Intake, will all the other 2G stuff bolt right on? Throttle body, intake hoses, fuel rail, all that good stuff? Or I need everything from a 1G?
Throttle body you might want a 1G as it’s larger to match the larger opening on the intake manifold but technically the 2G will work.

You’ll need a MDP adapter as the 1G manifold doesn’t have a spot for it.

Your fuel rail will bolt up.

Thank you! Not sure what an MDP adapter is, I'll have to look into that.
You'll often see MDP and MAP sensor interchanged improperly when theyre talking about factory components. In the PDF, it's referred to as MAP but in reality, it's MDP (manifold differential pressure) and it's basically there as an emissions thing. The 2g manifold has a machined-in provision for the sensor, the 1g does not. Some just run a very short length of hose to the sensor and let it free hang. You decide
