i would say its a deffinatly a mitsu turbo and if i had to guess what it was i would guess 13g. although i have no real idea what the HL is for

'TDO4HL-Super 60 Compressor wheel 6CM stage 2 for the 3000 GT VR-4 and Stealth Twin Turbo produces 500cfm each. it increases compressor flow to support over 680HP. This turbo also uses the larger compressor wheel as well as the larger TDO4HL turbine wheel, not the smaller TDO4 wheel found in the factory turbo. These are direct bolt on replacements for the factory turbos and require little modification of factory snorkel pipe for installation.'

just typed it in yahoo.... i think its a 15g

well here, better LINK

well right now i have the t-25 that is about to go out and im debating. is it a good turbo? is it worth putting on or should i still go with my s16g. i was going to sell this turbo but if anyone can give me insite as to if its good than i wont sell it. it has 35k original miles on it and i thought it was a 14b and i was gonna sell it for 150 with everything you see in the pic. anyone give me ideas?

the turbo in your link may have a similar name but its definately not the turbo pictured above. the BOV is mounted on the compressor housing

Sorry, but I don't see a BOV on the housing... I see a waste gate actuator though

Measure the inlet with a caliper, try and get within .010" accuracy. Look on the side of the turbine housing and look for an 050, 060, or 070 symbol. Post back and I'll tell you which turbo it is.

in the link posted by DSMatMSU and 92AWDDSM the turbo has a BOV on the housing.
the hrc super 15g is not what he has :thumb:

Pboglio, im not a whiz when it comes to turbos so do you want me to measure the part that is shown on the picture or what. and i checked the turbo itself and the only letters/numbers is what is shown on the picture unless somewhere else. is this an aftermarket turbo then or did the 4g63t motor come with many different turbos other than a 14b and a t-25. this turbo came off a jdm motor that i got and everything including turbo only has 35k original miles. now when we installed the motor this turbo would not adapt to the car do to different hoses and housing. so we had to put my t-25 with 147k on it on so that the car would work. i dont know if this info will help but im guessing i need something to make this turbo work on my car.

I didnt say it was a hrc turbo, I said it was a 15g. Just because hrc has different compressor housing doesnt mean that this cant be a 15g. Just like all turbos, there are slight variations between diff manufacturers. Thats like saying a 50trim with a t04s housing isnt a 50 trim because it doesnt have a t04e housing.

This thing doesn't look like the 13g TD04 turbo off of the automatic 1g's either. It's specs appear to be the TD04HL-6 or 7 cm with the 15G, like others have stated. But that Hahn turbo is NOT the same as far as compressor or turbine housings. My guess, which you can verify, is that this turbo is in fact dead close to the 14b's rated performance, 428 cfm @ 14.7 psi (15G). The TD05H-14B-6 cm is a better turbo, because of the bigger turbine wheel and bigger compressor housing, its got more top end capability. Yours probably has better spool up though.

Meausure the inside hole diameter of the compressor INLET on the aluminum housing. If you subtract out .030" from that number I'll be able to tell what compressor wheel thats in that housing. You have 3 possible compressor wheels in there and 2 different turbine housing possibilities. The turbine wheel is the TD04HL, everything else is questionable.

1t's a Mitsubishi 15G (definitely a G-series wheel). I'd be willing to put money on it that the stock 14b blew and someone just stuck a (6cm) center section/comp housing in its place. Its obviously not a "super" turbo or anything other than a bonestock Mitsubishi 15G.

There is a some info there on a bunch of TD04-series turbos, but nothing about the 49189-02500 p/n that is on your turbo.

[edit]
Most of the TD04HL turbos seem to come from Saabs/Volvos and 99% of them seem to have the compressor housing with the integrated BOV. Seems you have some freak turbo...
Here is list of applications also:
http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cach...hi-turbo-applications-melett.pdf+td04hl&hl=en

Again, the part number on your compressor housing is not on there, but -02500 comes back as 11g's, while the the 49189 number comes back on a variety of turbos.

so theres many types that this turbo could be. it could be a hybrid or something from japan. im probably going to call A.M.S. or Hahn Racecraft and see what they can tell me.

Whichever it is, 13G or 15G, its too small to make any real power. FYI the VR4s use TWO of these to make power.

If it is a 15g it flows ~430cfm. Damned close to the rating of a 14b and more than worth the $150 he's asking. If he sold it as a 14b equivalent, after verification of course, he would not be dishonest.

Dsmkid95, search for a stealth/3000gt website and post it there. Those guys might have an interest, for $150 they might want to have a spare 15g on hand, just in case they blow one of theirs. They could reuse the CHRA, housings they would have no need for. This site you won't get shit for it, everybody is 50trim happy in this forum.

I got the same turbo with the tdo4hl on it when I bought my 7-bolt evo style jdm motor.I also have a 14b and a t-25. The tdo4hl is quite abit smaller than the 14b but a little bit bigger than the t-25. i also talked to one of the guys at rre and he said that the tdo4hl is basically the same as the 13g.

so all in all what should i do? pop it on and use it? or sell it and save up to get my evo316g? and if i use it, what do i need to put it on my car seeing as it wouldnt adapt when we originally tried to put it on the car. and if i sell it, what do you think i should sell everything for thats in the pic? it only has 35k and no shaft play and clean so....

According to Turbochargers.com web site the turbo #'s that come closest to the 49189-02 that's stamped on your comp housing is 49189-14 that is a TD04HL-15G 7cm or the
49189-13 that is a TD04HL-13G 6m both were equipped on Volvo 940's and 960's.

do you honestly think turbos from volvos are interchangable with dsms?
