What should I do about the rear window antenna? [Merged 8-8] diversity

do talons have a second antenna embedded in the rear window like the eclipses? when my power antenna broke i just disconnected it and hooked the radio up to the second antenna - works beautifully

Yes but that second antenna is for a different frequency I believe. Possibly AM or Local channels. If it works tho then that's cool, USE IT!

Second antenna??? Are you mistaking the rear defrost traces for a window antenna?

the second antenna does look the same as the defroster but it's at the top of the rear window - you can see it in this diagram

If you are using that glass mount antenna plug behind the radio, then your reception will suffer... It does not seem to get the full signal, even locals for me.

You can identify it by it's size. It is significantly smaller both in plug and cable. If you bought an antenna adapter for your radio then you are using the glass mount antenna.

I know on my GSX I had no reception on the mast antenna, and it was due to a loose connection in the antenna cable over the driver rear fender, located just outside and rear of the shock tower. You might check that the connection there is tight... And while you've got that panel off, you might as well check your plug at the power antenna...

spyders do not have the second antenna
and yes, depending on where you live, the second antenna may not give you the same reception - where i live, i have no problems at all except maybe if i'm in a parking deck

PXHero=jealous... I want to be able to shave my antenna, but I love my radio stations... maybe it's time for some satellite radio...
