I plan to shave my antenna sometime soon because, one i never use it for anything, it's broken, and all i Ever do is listen to CDs anyway. I have a few questions about it. One, where do you get something like this done? And about how much would it run me? Thanks for any help..

i wouldnt think if you shaved your antenna you would worry about AM/FM stereos, you would just use the cd/mp3 player.

i shaved mine. reception sux. i get 2 stations, one thats horrible and 1 cool one. i kinda got lucky. so i bought a alpine head unit to fix the problem, plus i have like 55 cd's. i should be ok.

doesnt work. this was my hope when i shaved mine. i put the antenna socket in the fender touching the body of the car and to plug up the whole a little bit the did the body work over top of it. didnt work for me.

I'm told that if you extend the antennae wires and attach one to each side of the car, it will work. Someone told me that's how the new BMW's do it. I'm about to shave the antennae on my car and we shaved the antennae on our shop's other car, so I sure hope this works.

I'm trying to remove the stock 95 Talon antenna..... it's the black stationary one. How? Can I just remove it from the outside? Or do I have to remove those panel inside to do so?

Thanks guys! :)

If it's stock, the mast is just threaded in (and has flats on it for a wrench). Or do you have to remove the whole assembly? If so, then you have to remove the inner trim panel and go to it from inside. You can unscrew the mounting boss from the outside, but you can't pull the antenna base up through the hole in the fender.

The new BMW and Mercedes
They have a tiny anttena on the back of the roof .

What it is a Farday stick with a coil or thin wire on it , making it 3x longer then a recular anttena , so that's why the reception is good wile that thing is only 2" over the top of the car .

I my self installed Fuba anttena on the hathc where the rear window sprayer was ( it's still there but inside of the anttena base now ) .

I get a descent reception , but two of them on each side of the roof would be bether .

Sorry for speling , I can't spell to save my life .

Btw the car chasy as an anttena will never work , becouse it's used as GND . and it would pick up to many distortions and noise , if the car would be made to use the chacy as the anttena .

any of u guys that shaved ur antennae wanna give me the stock mast that u used to have? my mast is gone

You could get a windshield antenna, which is better than nothing.... barely. If your stereo had "FM Diversity", you already have one on the upper part of your hatch glass. But Eclipses only, I think- so far I've not found one on a Talon or Laser.

usually the shop runs an antenna up in your headliner....that gives you just as good reception. you can use the car body because of the paint and stuff on the body.

I've heard of people that use the rear window defroster as antenna. Sorry don't know how to hook it up.

you have to run new wire and stuff....man if you just take an antenna wire and then run it up your a pillar and in your headliner and your done...its not that hard

I have a shaved antenna and get perfect radio reception. I just went out and bought a hidden power antenna. Trust me it works very good and isn't even noticeable. The antenna cost about $65 Hidden antenna
