Antenna Removal [Merged 5-8] removing shaving shaved remove

I agree to keep it till you can get it done right. In the mean time, just dont have power to it and just push it down till you can figure something out. Mine is shaved off and its a nice look if you ask me. But you`ll need to buy another antenna to place some where. I bought an antenna from a marine store that i actually double side taped it to my windshield all the way at the top. The factory black line that goes around the windshield sort of hides the antenna. Its hard to explain with out pictures for you, sorry :(

My car hasn't been operational since I removed the antenna. I do still plan on using the radio though. I'm not sure if it will work or not now. If it doesn't work no big deal, I'll just get one of those "hidden" antennas at some point.

There is a secondary antenna built into your rear window. There should be a metal male connector (one big, one small) the small one is the rear window antenna. Plug that into the radio. I have been using that and the reception is fine.

That's been my plan. I just hadn't heard of anybody else using the secondary antenna with success so I couldn't say if it would work or not. Good to hear it works for you.

Where is the small connector?

I have used the secondary antenna for like 3 years now. You can get an adapter at circuit city or best buy I guess now that circuit city is going out of business. Never have had problems with reception. Gets rid of everything, is free and is factory integrated!

So, I understand how people are filling in antenna's on a 2g where the antenna connects to the metal frame. This will work for my rear wiper on my 1gb Talon - spot weld some metal and assume standard body working procedures to blend it in.

What about guys who have 'shaved' the antenna from their 1g Eclipse/Talons where the Antenna is mounted through the plastic spoiler? I'd prefer to do this as correct as possible since I will be taking proper amounts of time to meticuluously remove dents/dings and paint the car anyway.

Any suggestions/tips? I don't just want to fill the hole up with silicone either. What's the best bet? Will Bondo hold? 'Cause even that sounds sketchy.

alright, so I'm trying to replace my power antenna motor and mass, but I'm having a problem. I can't get the little chrome nut that goes around the antenna mass off. it is the one on the fender, with 4 grooves, one on each side. I've tried using screw drivers to try and turn it off, but no luck. is there a secret to this??

There is a special tool called an antenna wrench, no joke. I took mine off, did not replace it. I did not need a wrench, because I took the antenna out through the bottom and popped the boot up. Otherwise you could try a vice grips, that seemed to be working for my friend.

hmmm....I just called my local auto shop, and they said they had nothing....maybe I'll have to run up and actually take a look. I don't think vice grips would work to well...the edge seems pretty rounded. but thanks, I'll try it.

Where in milwaukee do u live I'm only 20 min from downtown... and to the OP be sure to use something like a rubber stopper or something to plug up the hole from the tube from the motor of the antenna, its in the floor of that section. If you dont the spray from your back wheel may get in there sometimes and thats no fun.

Just keep at it, with out scratching it up, it will be tight...(thats what she said, :D)...seriously though, i just took mine off because the plastic gear inside the motor busted, so i'm shaving the antenna from the fender, going to run an internal antenna instead. Also, make sure your not turning it the wrong direction, remember you have to turn the outside nut and the assembly(inside fender) in opposite directions, if i remember correctly.
As for the "special tool," i didn't think anyone would even bother creating such a tool, seems pointless to me, because i didn't have any problems using my hands and a wrench(taped).

Thats a solution if you plan on doing a full delete, and dont want to stick a stubby in there oranything. But you also run the risk of loosing the antenna assembly then and if your like me you want to sell your antenna :D

not really. i took off the whole assembly on the inside just leaving the pia piece on the fender, and just drilled this part out. i now have a s2000 antenna on :hellyeah:

well I had to get a whole new antenna and motor, thats why I was removing it...and the motor and antenna came with the new antenna nut, so I didn't even bother worrying about scratches...at that point I busted out the good old vice grips and went to work...came right off after a little leverage(and alot of carefulness not to scratch the black paint!!! LOL

I bought this $17 amplified antenna and mounted it on the inside of the rear hatch glass. It needs ignition power and ground, and I plugged it into the antenna feed line in the rear hatch area (so you don't really need to route it all the way to the stereo headunit).

I have a 95 GST so I had a fixed factory antenna. I unscrewed the antenna mast and put a small stainless steel bolt from Home Depot in there. Done. Of course it's not as clean as shaving the stock antenna mast, but for $17 and about 1 hour of work it's not bad. The powered antenna works really well and is very inconspicuous.

Doesn't someone just sell a rubber plug to cover the hole? I know people make things like spoiler delete plugs and such for other cars. Someone should really start making plugs for the antenna and rear wiper holes.

i know certain generation civics has blanks to cover their antennas, but i don't think i've ever came across one for our cars...
