I took my 2nd spare head to the machine shop for surfacing and 1 exhaust stud extraction. I also got 10 gallons of E while I was in that town 😎

Little bulbs with fat fingers challenge.

At some point in the quest to solve the mystery of why this lower radiator hose wont stop leaking, i actually did fix it. Its trans oils that has been flowing down the same path, coming from the shifter lever seal. The shop that did my clutch a couple of years ago put amsoil coolant which is pale yellow instead of green so was harder ro tell since the trans oil is clear. Felt it when i cleaning everything up and it felt thicker than antifreeze. My fault for not taking a closer look.

Looking at a few threads, seems like i could get lucky and be done in 10 minutes or break multiple tools and invent new curse words trying to get the pins out.

F@#! this thing..trying to replace this little shifter lever oil seal is by far more frustrating than anything ive ever done. Friend is loaning me his mini air hammer, if that doesnt work, i guess im taking it somewhere.

On the less frustrating side, Got 2 sets of General GMAXs for under $1k, so the Empress has new shoes after years of needing them.

Few hundred bucks later and I have myself a custom 180amp alternator that bench tested at 14.5v. The guy that assembled it was really excited over it how he had to track down the last of this, last of that, different this, etc. A frankenstein unit I guess.

Installed, it gives me 14v on the gauge and 13.8ish in 'link. No drive time but all seems good... so far.

Car cleaned up good for a quick wash and tonight's task will be hoodpins on the red car, to keep the hood from flying up on a non-existent windshield because I guess they don't exist on the planet anymore. Sigh.

I just took those tires off my car today 🤣 They were good for what they were but the 225s were breaking loose under boost even at highway speeds of 80+. Fwd problems 😢

Put some 255/40s on but need some small spacers to clear the upper arms. Going to increase the preload on the coilovers to stiffen it up a bit hopefully I don’t rub

And I replaced the eBay short hub with an old school Momo. I wanted the wheel to be closer to me and my fingers are long enough to hit the stalks

Has anyone revised the 4 points of attachment for the front seat? Mine were rusty, I ran a tap and die through each corner but it seems a little compromised to me.

Sadly I was taking one out of the red car I scrapped and cracked it right at the end of removal. Trust me I was mad because I know they don’t exist and are needed.

I filled up the rarely used AEM Water/Methanol tank on the car. I am having a bit of knock up top, even on E. Boost Juice at 49% Methanol was my goto for now. I'll back the timing down after this "test". I haven't used it in years. ✌️

Is this on the one I was working on the tune?

Yep, the one we were fooling around with. I haven't driven it much with all the rain making the surface very compromising.

I was having trouble finding a good way to mount my little AN fuel filter that looked nice. I liked the idea of using the OE filter bracket (which I had re-plated) but nothing was working very well. So I got a cheap stock fuel filter. Then I cut the end off of it. I ground the fitting off the inlet side and used a step drill to make a 1 1/16” hole. I found a grommet that fit tightly around the outlet side of my AN filter and installed it in the hole on the stock filter. I gave it a fresh coat of black paint, glued the grommet in, then put a piece of high-density foam around the inside circumference. Now my AN filter fits snugly inside. The grommet holds the outlet end, and it fits perfectly in the original bracket. Anybody on this forum can tell it’s not stock at first glance (the AN fitting and pressure sensor are a dead give-away, not to mention it’s actually upside down) but it’s nice and tidy and most people would never give it a second look. I’m pretty pleased with the result.

Drove the Laser for the first time of the year. I have very little driving time in that car, but that twin disc from a dead stop is tricky and will make you look like a fool easily. It makes me not even want to drive the car. I decided to play with the Launch Limit on the RPM tab. I settled at 3300, which now allows me to be rather reckless with the gas pedal and concentrate on slipping the clutch. Quite the cheat! I wont be able to launch the car obviously, but never did that anyways with my cars.

The GSX, I cant believe it's the same car. Before I bolted the hoodpins in I cleaned the area with rubbing alcohol and it looked 1000x better. So the past few nights Ive been going at the whole car with rubbing alcohol, and today I did some wetsanding.

I also rattle canned the side pieces of the rear spoiler [they were black] with a can off the shelf at the hardware store and it is DAMN close to the oem paint code. I will probably use that spray paint to correct areas, wet sand it to blend, then all said and done use the $$ 2 stage clear coat rattle cans on the whole car when Im satisfied.

It's currently a 30' car which is insane to me.

Seen lots of small mods over the years but this one is pretty slick.
