Finally got off my ass and swapped my non-HP Walbro 450 for a new Walbro 450 HP pump. I swapped the original flexible fuel line for a PTFE 6an line (first time playing with PTFE, was quite interesting). I used some metric inverted flare to 6an (jic) adapters from Racetronix, no leaks so far
I should probably put the seat back in LOL

This is becoming a lot like that 40k Talon that sold awhile back. Every part touched. I would love to do this to any car. Closest I ever got was when I was into muscle cars and I did some heavy suspension work with everything new and coated.
I don't know much of that car but this is sounding like a close restoration possibly!

This has seem more parts removed then ever before and since NO ONE in the UK has a clue on these its never got the love it deserved until now! I keep saying it and will do over and over again but it is a HUGE job and not for the faint hearted! it can be stressful and cataloging all the hardware is not fun to do LOL trust me on that its what i hate the most haha but once does i can have that data forever and the finishing results do really pay off!

having the owner here today with me as i was spraying the undercoating was great as he saw what went on and was really shocked at the difference of the overall look and how it protects vs before. This is great for them to see in action the amount of work thats involved and time it takes to do such a huge task at hand.

I am really looking forward to finishing this for him and to be able to drive it and once again feel connected to the road once again as he remembers it once was (when NEW LOL)

when I start to piece it all back together I shall keep updates coming with pics of that also. plus i got some MORE new items for the chassis to show off i designed

Went to my local junkyard today and found this in there.
Going back later in week to grab motor and trans. Everything turned over fine and all. Cylinder head looked brand new on it.

Well what a journey on this 1GA im restoring! The so called FUN part is not fun and its very messy and on a hot day its nasty to do! But needs to be done. But the end results are very worth it!
Love the attention to detail! You're going down a similar path of what I'm doing with mine, but a little more extreme. Rather than a full restore on mine I'm doing more of a "survivor" restoration to bring it back to what it would have been like when it was still only a a couple years old.

Thank you. Yes this is on the EXTREME side for sure. when we started to plan this out (about a year and a half ago or so) we discussed many options. some of which were not as known as it was now while doing it but a good chunk was agree'd upon before hand. I knew what I was taking on was a massive job I will never hide that fact. its stressful and a lot to do LOL and when you can ONLY do it on weekends its even worse as time goes on and it takes longer and longer haha.

Saying that I have been consistent with jobs in between which does help midweek where i can.

I think those that can go this far SHOULD as its a great time to catch a lot of it before it gets really bad! any longer and issues become far worse for people. I was lucky as only the M6 bolts in some areas snapped and 1 M8 so had it of been longer this might of been a bigger battle!

I wish you luck on your restoration dude. I will be doing a dedicated page for it eventually to document it all and videos etc so hopefully will help people looking to take on the same or close enough task

I got the timing belt and cover on, along with the intake manifold. Flywheel and clutch go on today, might drop it in the Spyder tonight! My hernia surgery recovery has me pretty limited, but the right tools and a friendly helper have kept the pace steady for this refresh!

I ordered Powerstop 2g rotors and pads for the front and 1g for the rear, as well as front KYB AGX struts ( I already bought the rears) bellows with bumps for all and rear strut mount hardware, all new belts, and front driver axle. I gotta stop spending money at some point.....

Just started a tune with Kevin Jewer. Got my the Wally 255 installed started the tune and had a really high dead time.

Moved to the WOT and stupid lean 13 to 13.8:1 AFR.

After talking with Kevin I pulled the injectors and ran them down to have them flow tested and cleaned to see if they aren't really flowing 750cc.

When removing the fuel rail and injectors found the inlet side O-ring degrading and pieces were in the rail. The little pieces in the picture were in the rail... Suspecting they may be in the injector filters

Got a new 90amp alt installed was seeing voltage drop to mid 12s WOT when hot and threw in a new fuel filter media just to cover everything we have caught in the tune so far.

I have spent more time wrenching in the past week than I have in the past 12 years without a DSM.

It's a labor of love and glad to be back at it... But the body ain't happy 😁 and plenty of blood and sweat has been spilled... No tears yet.

Very true Bobby. I think I had around 150 hrs in prep just on the undercarriage. Can’t imagine doing it on my back without the rotisserie. Hats off to you sir!

I reused a bracket off my parts car to hold my fuel pressure regulator, flex fuel sensor and used a piece of sheet metal to hold the speed density on. Glued a strip of old vacuum hose to act as a shield for the harness.

Got my injectors back from being flow tested and cleaned, they were pretty dirty for only about 4k miles.

Got the injectors installed and found a small fuel leak near the filter and got that fixed. Leak free to 90 PSI "not needed but just a safety measure" Boost leak free at 27 PSI not sure where we will end up by the end of the tune but my guess is low 20's on 91 pump.

Recalibrated my Innovate LC-2 WB... sucks when it is at 11 o'clock in the exhaust.

The car still isn't seeing the flow from the injectors it should. To get dialed at idle my deadtimes 450... better than the 620 we started at.

See where we are tomorrow. Have got my 11 year old daughter always wanting to help and learn what I am doing and why. She asks if she can have the car for Highschool 😆
