I could do it again in no time.It wasn't an all day affair for me.But im sure I could make it work.

No need for Im gasket this time.

But I got a new the new therm housing to head gasket and it dont seal.I should have used some rtv, cause it leaks.

No, there's an actual gasket for thermostat housing to cylinder head, and if both surfaces are properly cleaned, a new gasket should have no problem sealing.

2gs might be different, but Bud has a 1g.

Right, the 2g uses RTV only while the 1g calls for a gasket. You could use RTV in place of the gasket if needed. But I was always taught to use RTV or a gasket, never both.

And some of you guys need to start breaking more stuff! LOL I can't even count how many times I've pulled the head. Hell, I built my engine before I even owned a boost controller.

Haha I'm the opposite. I had to build the engine because of the boost controller. So sad. I'll soon be doing my 4th timing job, after I get my new rods and pistons in. Still stuck on whether or not to use my 1g or 2g head and intake mani :(. Both need valves done, new springs and seals, and cams swapped out.

I used a layer of rtv on the vc for safe measure.I thought the new gasket in this coolant spot would be all i needed. But razor blade and some rtv and I should be good to go.

Rtv or a gasket, it makes sense, but for added security.I'm gonna do a dab of both.

In most cases, not a good idea to rtv the vc. Where does the excess generally wind up? In the oil pan, or getting thrown around in the valve train. Just use an OEM gasket set and forget it

I know I know. But i spent to much @ stm, to afford a new vc gasket. And it was only a few spots needed it.

In the oil pan is bad.But the car gets another oil change before the synthetic goes in. I hope changing oil and filter should keep the rtv out of the oil.

Well I sure hope you didn't use a lot of RTV, but a little smear just to kinda hold the valve cover gasket into the cover and a little on the half moon is recommended.

Crossed the 381Km mark. Last oil change about 30km ago, and besides a miniscule amount of sparkle, nothing in there that would even begin to make me question the condition of the internals.
