Fine, almost spun out! :thumb: Never? Maybe we can change that with your RX-8 at Autox! I actually sup out in the Evo for the first time at the last event. It was a long sweeper and I was powering out of it with the rear end sliding around... it was beautiful until the rear end came too far around and I went of course, LOL!

You can get Rain-X just about anywhere (auto parts store, walmart, etc). I got mine at Auto Zone. It was $7.99 for a big spray bottle or they had a smaller bottle that was $2 or $3.

The 1g is on a serious diet right now, I don't really have any plans for it for the rest of this year. I'm just hoping to get everything ready for the drag strip as soon as it opens next year. Right now it's all about getting the DSM ready and AutoXing the Evo!

*Steve Carwin, famed Tunerthropologist sneaks up and speaks to the camera.* "Here we see the female returning to the nest to care for it's fallen mate. The black one, we've named Kiara, would be in the nest, but the white one, Akira, has suffered a terrible breakdown and is left stuck in the nest. When Akira is back on his feet, Kiara can taker her place in the nest. Perhaps to rest, and to build some power. We won't know how long it will take."

Torqued the intake cam down, and got it timed. 1/2 tooth off first BTDC and then ATDC, and finally TDC. But now i'm missing that half circle peice. Anyone got any spares?

I kicked my dsm in the fender today, been trying to figure out why it will idle perfectly for 30 seconds, then sputter terribly and die. So I've taken to using my dsm as a punching bag :)

Because a bad crank sensor sometimes will only break up when it gets hot. I've had my car run perfect when first built then after it warmed up it would act up bad and die. let it sit five minutes start up run perfect for teo minutes then do the same thing.

Its not tech forum and he didn't give much info. Its just a suggestion.

.. and fried one of it's cells. But the toasty battery was a bit of a blessing, it was 7 years old and likely just waiting to leave me somewhere unpleasant.

Yep, classic strut bar syndrome. It could have been so much worse.
On my commute this morning I hit the nastiest ridge in the pavement I swear that my front end caught air. I'm also 100% confident now that my A-arms have clearanced my fender wells sufficiently. :D

I'm not the only one, either. They're doing construction on the freeway and they've not properly blended a section and it's impossible to miss. It's no biggie when you have 6" of sidewall but when you only have half that or less it's like hitting fuel cut. Anyways, when my head was hitting the ceiling my battery was tearing through the rubber protector and 6 layers of e-tape. :ohdamn:

I didn't know it at the time that anything was wrong. I stopped at 7/11 for water and the car started right up again, no issues. Took it to class and when I came out it was 100% dead. I tried the door locks a few times during the process. Nadda.

I checked under the hood to find that I'd more or less turned everything on the negative side into slag but no other visible damage.

AAA shows up, and $107.00 later I've got a new battery and a 100% functional car, sans the power locks. I guess me jacking around with the locks trying to figure out "is the car normally this quiet when I jump in?"

Hopefully no other gremlins reveal themselves, but I appear to have been very lucky today. Good thing too, I'd probably pop.

Consider yourself lucky! For me that mistake turned into a $250 deposit so insurance could fix the nearly $3k in damage from the electrical fire in my DSMs "battery meet strut bar" experience.

I finally had a chance to wrench on my car and, maybe for the first time, it was actually working just fine when I did it. LOL I've decided to make a few changes to the turbo setup, going bigger on the exhaust side of the HTA68 and smaller on the intake side to see how it effects spool up time and top end. More specifically, I'm switching to an Evo III IM (removing the SMIM for now) and BEP 16g 8cm hotside (removing the ported 7cm stock hotside). I also installed a second spring to my Tial wastegate, now it's a big green (13psi) combined with a small red (6psi) so on my 91oct tune I can run spring pressure (19psi) and when I fill up with E85 I can leave my MBC set for 29psi and hopefully it holds boost better too. Christmas colors FTW! LOL

Getting the Evo III IM and UICP powder-coated satin black and the FP exhaust manifold and BEP hotside ceramic coated black.

Here are a few photos I took today...

For the 2g can't you beat the hell out of the battery tray, to get some extra room?

I cut my support for the ST bar, and made it slidable about a half an inch..Plenty of room now.

I took off my full turbo back today..Scraped off the make a gasket, no more smoke screen.

You should look into the lightweight tiny battery

Oh I had fun this morning. I sold my valve cover, and went to go pull it, a few of the threads in the pcv fitting were apparently stripped, was trying to torque it out slowly so as to not screw up the threads. I have the thing almost out when I hear cracking. The aluminum was so brittle it came off like crumbled coffee cake. Here is the aftermath:

No kidding, you mind sharing your client list? I've got a 2g mani I wanna get $100 for! ;)

Pretty gnarly though that it just destroyed itself like that. Was the car cold? Nevermind, it's never cold in Arizona LOL
