ALL CAM IDENTIFICATION QUESTIONS MERGED HERE.

Cams are not easy to identify for obvious reasons...but if you think it's worth posting pics along with measurements and specs of the cams you're using, give it a shot.

I have these cams, they came in a head I bought. The guy said they were aftermarket and he did not know what kind... does anyone reconize these markings? Thank you very much for any help you can give, I want to sell them but I do not know what they are.

First off, thanks for looking. I bought a 1995 Eclipse RS, that has a 6 bolt swap. I'm in the process of building it and getting everything right on it. There are many other mods on it and if you ask I will tell you. My problem is I can't figure out what cams it is running. There is nothing wrong with them, but it is something I would like to know. The guy I bought the car from says they are "aftermarket" and I'm pretty sure they are. I've searched literally for days and I can't find anything, except when I type in 4604A 4G63, I get this site: Bienvenidos a AGM

I've included pics of the cams, and the only numbers anywhere on them are stamped as follows: Intake- 4604A, Exhaust- 4605A

Someone one chime in and let me know what you think. Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks

i never heard of that company or whatever they are, to me they look like a small private owed type of business, if you still have they guy's number or anyway to contact him and ask were the hell did you buy these cams or what brand and such.

Believe me I have. He says he bought the engine out of a laser, and the owner of the laser performed the swaps, mods, etc. I have no way of getting in touch with the laser owner though, He thinks they are 272 Intake, 264 Exhaust, though there is no way to know for sure without measuring them I suppose.

yes, I'm 100% sure that this engine is a 1G 4G63T, the engine mounts were relocated and everything. A speed shop swapped the (not original) 6 bolt from the laser into the 95 RS, it must have been a pain but they did it. Car ran great, rode in it several times, then blew headgasket and sit for awhile, then I bought it, water in cylinders made a spot, so now I'm rebuilding the engine.

^^ I think he still thinks you have a 420a. Im not surprised, not many do all that modifying.

You're right about that, someone definitely did a ton of work to get that engine in the car.

I wasn't doubting that it was swapped- I just was curious as to how the engine was wedged in the car, and how cleanly the swap was done.

It's definitely not the cleanest swap I've ever seen, but everything seems aligned correctly and the car functioned very well. Anybody have a clue about these cams? I'm ready to get this thing rolling again. Also, I have a 90 turbo m/t ecu, and 2g OBD2 data ports. It's very confusing as to what I can actually use to tune this thing

Alright, my buddy Zach bought a car from a guy in South Carolina. We knew it had aftermarket cams, but didnt know which ones. At the time of purchase we asked the owner what kind they were, he couldnt answer our question. He said and I quote, "theyre supposed to be a custom grind with the drive-ability of a 272 and top end similar to a 280"

That being said, the car did lump a bit at idle (~1000). About the same as my Comp 101300's and I'll venture to say they pulled about the same (if not a little bit harder) up top, all the way to the 8500rpm rev limit.

Recently we pulled the head off of his car to replace the o.e. fiber headgasket with a mitsu mls headgasket. While we had it off we decided to take a look at the cams, and were both completely stumped about what kind they are. We were kind of worried they may be regrinds, but are not sure at all. (not bashing regrinds, but everybody has heard some of the horror stories involving them)

So that leads us here, the only similar identifying marks on both of the cams is a C and A cast into both of the camshafts, and a MJ marked in yellow. Other than that... well, I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves.

usually cam companies will make part numbers on the front timing gear face of the cam. Have you removed the gears yet?

There was only a 2 stamped on the ends behind the gears. However, on the opposite end there was a 103260418 on the intake and a 10362227 on the exhaust. Both looked like they were etched.
