What cams are these? [MERGED] Cam Identification ID

Cams are not easy to identify for obvious reasons...but if you think it's worth posting pics along with measurements and specs of the cams you're using, give it a shot.



I have these cams, they came in a head I bought. The guy said they were aftermarket and he did not know what kind... does anyone reconize these markings? Thank you very much for any help you can give, I want to sell them but I do not know what they are.

Those are most likely stock 2g cams...I'm pretty sure all of the regrinds out there come with paint marks on them, and aftermarket cams will have the manufacture name cast, stamped or engraved into the cams somewhere.

No clue what cam this is, it cam bundled with a Comp 101300 that was clearly marked XE258HR

Are you sure they just aren't stock?

As stated, they appear to be stock, but I cannot confirm and no one has any info on the "H" or the (22 2) and the (6 2) numbers.

I was told by previous owner it had 272 cams installed which I believe is untrue.

Did you try matching the numbers and letters on the cam within the link I provided you yesterday?Next step is pulling out your caliper and measuring them.

That's what I have concluded as well. I'm wanting to confirm they are indeed stock. I plan to pull both cams Saturday and look for more info. Will take more photos to add to cam data base.

I've looked through that thread at least a dozen times and printed the stock info sheet. Nothing matches what I posted confirmed by the tech helping me. I believe they are stock and I was lied too. Let me know if you find a match.

Pull the cam gears and look for an etching.

Also measure the lift of the cam, and that may help figure it out.

There a few different blank makers, and then the cam companies will grind to there specs

Don't know what cams but if you look at the wear on the cam it looks like the roller on the rockers is sliding back and forth instead of staying in one spot and just rotating.

That was going to be my next question how does that happen? And how do I fix it?

Also I don't have the ability to pull the can gears or measure lift at the moment. But are they stock cams?

All of the aftermarket cams I have used have some kind of markings on them i.e. HKS, BR, BC, Tomei, GSC, FP. If your talking about which stock cams they have marks on them also. That thread that someone listed earlier is a good reference.

You can still measure the lobe in head. It can be a little tricky. Just have to rotate the crank untill the cam lobe is in the position needed.

The markings you see on the lobe do not look like odd wear pattern, but more like machining marks, The reason you see them now is from the follower Polishing through the hardning of the lobe. If the cam is damaged you will feel it with your finger, it will be a step you are looking for.

I recently purchased a set of GSC S2 cams from a private seller. I'm just trying to make sure that I actually got what paid for. There aren't any markings on the cams to tell me theyre S2's or even GSC's for that matter. What ways does GSC use to mark their cams to tell them apart?

No sir. There's nothing on these cams that say anything related to "GSC" or "S2". I'll upload a pic in a minute when I get home.

thought i'd toss this in here. Trying to id my cams without taking them off completely, as the motor is running fine and was doing just the valve cover gasket. Got RA and R5 stamped on them, green stripe, numbers 20 and 25, 12 and 04 marked on them as well. no brand label either. had thought i had 272 this whole time, and want to verify. it pulls ~10" of vacuum at idle and 20" at deceleration.

I skimmed through this thread and did not see any with the markings the cams I pulled out of my car has. I am pretty sure they are stock, but I have pictures of the only markings the cams have, which is same for intake and exhaust. They are marked R7, 11 on one side and 0, 21 on the other sideof both cams.
