I agree with you Phil, tried adding it too quickly and didn't pay enough attention. That's also why I have Nate above English as we don't know any of the particulars other then 11.7! I asked him about it at the shootout, he didn't even remember it as an 11.7, he thought it was an 11.8! I'm going with what he first posted for the list however.

Anyone know the 14b record for pump gas (not E85)? Or has no one even bothered with that?

I ran my old setup in '05 on pump gas for kicks once, it ran 12.43 @ 108.x. I guess I hold that record :D

I attached the log I had referenced awhile back in this thread from when I was running the stock ECU and SMIC. Check out the knock count :shhh:

Damn...guess I'll be a ways from that record. I'm just hoping to be in the low 13s, high 12s next time out. LOL

My opinion, the record is for the car. It's not uncommon for one car to have more than one driver taking turns, when my friend and I were running his 20g setup, there were days when I'd run a faster time in it, but the times were always submitted under his name since it's his car. To exaggerate the point, you have Lucas English's time on the list. What if every employee of English Racing took a turn running the car just for kicks, and they all ran within a couple tenths of each other?

I just picked up a 91 talon awd and I'm gunning for the 14b nitrous top ten. Hoping to have the car out at the track October 23rd here in Baytown,Tx for Import Face off.

Shouldn't be hard considering there are far less than 10 14b nitrous times ;)
 
I tend to agree Steve. The only thing I see as a possible issue is if/when a car is sold or changes hands. Does the old person lose his or her record if the new owner runs a new time? Although it seems as if that is not the case in this situation, it's more like a partnership and one of them dropped out and the other took it further. Personally I think his time should be removed from the official top ten list. As far as I know this moves Mr. Peepers (anyone got a real name?) to number 10 with his 12.004 @ 115.56.

Anyone have any issues with that?

Did a few "things" to the talon today, haven't test driven it yet. I shimmed the wastegate finally, and I did a little cutting to allow more air to the air filter. Figured even if it doesn't help much it can't hurt anything.

Shimming the gate on my 14b netted me about another 2 psi to 6500rpm FYI. went from 15-16 to 17-18 ish. had to back the boost controller down about a quarter turn though, it didn't like 25psi too much.
 
Great news then! I'll report on it tomorrow.

Most guys were shimming it because the boost was tapering down near the top end of each gear, I've never had that problem actually. But it is possible that it can help the turbo not have to work as hard to achieve whatever psi I'm trying for which will create less heat. Less heat at the same psi means more power ;)
 
This is a tough thing with the times list.....so if Joe Bucci doesn't own his Laser anymore......we remove him from the top spot?

If the car changes hands, then the next owners times should go on the list, with the same car.

Just my opinions.....

I think if I understand right we agree then. If the car changes hands, both records set by the previous owner and the new owner count correct?

In the case of Mike Knott, he wasn't a previous owner, he was a partner on the project and just happened to record a time and put it on DSMTimes when he was driving. It's not like Bucci bought the car from him, he just continued to set times and Knott did not. It'd be like if I agreed to let my wife drive the car, we're both "owners" of it and then put her time on the list and mine. I think we have it right :thumb:

In other news I snapped an injector clip off screwing with the car, so new ones are on the way. Wires broke off right at the clip :( Time for some new ones anyways.

That's what I would say, yes. If someone drives your car quicker than you did, you have a new goal, not a new personal best.

Yeah, my injector clips are pretty brittle as well. I'll probably upgrade once the wiring harness gets prepped to go back in the car. I expect that might happen like next June.....ROFL

Come on Phil, get it in gear! If you're not going to show us what that car can do with some real mods I'm going to drive out there, put the parts in, and go drive it myself ROFL
 
Haha awesome!

I'm switching the engine/turbo setup to an auto shell right now but the manual car will be getting the 14b again. Maybe- just maybe I will try for 11's or hell even put the 14b on the auto car to cut some ET.

I really want to see the top 10 list all in the 11's or under, even if my car isn't included :p

Congrats on making it back into the top ten (after some trimming). I'm pretty sure this list is pretty accurate. I don't doubt we're missing something somewhere but it's as accurate as we're going to get. Now just so you know I plan on making this an all 11's list soon haha! But, I gotta get out and do it first.

Kidding. Problem is, I don't have all the parts yet. Buying parts gets pretty expensive and when you have a family, at least in my experience, it's gotta be incremental. I do have quite a few parts accumulated. Other parts I'm waiting to be built, and some I just haven't ordered yet.

So, there is work to be done nonetheless, even without having all the parts present. Most of those are bottom end parts.

Don't worry, the car is slated for work this winter as I hope to have heat for the garage.

But, as I reported previously, I still have not touched the car.

So, that's my piddly update.
