Where do you guys set your NLTS?
I used to have it set at 6000rpm but I never hit it. I always shift quick enough that the clutch pedal just cuts the ignition off when I shift. But last week I tried something different; I set the NLTS at the same rpm where I shift. It's at 8200 rpm right now. When I shift gears now the boost stays higher so there's even less lag between shifts. I think I like it!

I know what you guys mean when you say it's tempting to spend a couple hours to swap a bigger turbo and gain some nice HP. I'm guilty of giving in to that temptation! I just finished installing a TD06-20G on my car. I'm going to try it out and see how it compares to the EVO3 16G.

Very tempting! But only after I hit 11's. Then hopefully the bug to hit mid 11's will get to me.

I was told NLTS was to be set where you usually come into the next gear rpm-wise. Mine was set to low and I'm going to have to raise it. But I wonder if it'll benefit from being set a little higher. Like you, I never heard it bouncing off any type of limiter during shifts as the shifts were pretty quick.

I have mine set at 6,000 (shift at 6,500) but I have to admit that I have yet to use it, it's just habit. I'll have to make a conscious effort to not lift off the gas next time out.

Good job on the BOV! That should help because now your turbo won't have to work as hard to make the same boost and you should be able to hold more boost in the higher RPM's! We will find out next weekend! :hellyeah:

Congrats on the new Personal Best Shane! It was awesome meeting you and your wife!

For those that weren't at the shootout, :nono:, Shane represented us 14b'ers well running very low 12's in the DSM Stock Turbo Class with a best pass of 12.05 (I think)! :hellyeah:

Well i was there LOL, but i ended up blowing out my turbo-mani gasket and couldnt make more then 1.5psi off the line. That finished my weekend.

Congrats on the 12.05. Knocking on 11's :hellyeah:

Bummer man! Double bummer that I obviously missed meeting you. Get it back together and to the track, post up when you go too, maybe I'll be able to come meet up with you.

Never been to Ubly, heard good things about the track though. I never visited Lapeer but I'll pass on the experience. I usually hit Milan or Martin.

Figured I'd throw an "updated" top ten out there. No nitrous runs of course. Make Joe a 10.61 @ 131.79 at #1 still and move Nate up to #2 with his 11.448 @ 118.72 if you want with nitrous.

1. Joe Bucci 10.876 @ 123.83
2. Phil Beers 11.497 @ 113.85
3. David Womer 11.514 @ 118.13
4. Leon Reitman 11.642 @ 116.56
5. Nick Carleton 11.767 @ 115.93
6. Aaron Sadorf 11.76 @ 113.37
7. Nate Crisman 11.78 @ 110.8
8. Lucas English [email protected] - I know he ran 11.7 and blew up his 14b this year
9. Rob Harfman 11.938 @ 119.41
10. Matt Morrison 12.004 @ 115.56

Top 5 AWD no nitrous guys still looks like this:
1. Phil Beers 11.497 @ 113.85
2. David Womer 11.514 @ 118.13
3. Leon Reiman 11.642 @ 116.56
4. Nick Carleton 11.767 @ 115.93
5. Lucas English [email protected] or Nate Crisman with 11.78 @ 110 who knows

Lots of moving and shaking after the top ten. With nitrous James Cox would probably be #11 at 11.953 @ 114.1. I would then assume our own Mr. Peepers would hit #12 with his 12.004 @ 115 and then it's anyone's guess.

All this talk of top ten lists and the shootout chatter on facebook, Im very very excited and itching to get to the track again. Iv so far resisted the urge to slap the E3 16g on (Iv got a brand new one here) and will make at least one more shot at the n2o/14b record and hopefully move up a spot or two on the turbo only list if I can tune in a bit more power.

Sun sep 4 or Sun Sep 10th is going to be my next track days. The 4th likely won't work as I don't have any fuel and E85 is hard to come by in NJ

I'm just staring at that 11.938 @ 119.41 trying to figure out how I'm going to lose .113 in order to take the #10 spot and actually get on the list haha! I definately don't have that kind of mph! But I'll be happy at #11 even if I only run an 11.999 LOL.

Man I'd sure like to see U get a break on some clean passes! U could make some M85... :aha: Methanol and pump has worked for several of our locals. Putting aside all the corrosive nastyness of methanol, it's a better fuel. I don't think you'd have much of an issue with your fuel setup though. The evo guys running it here don't change their e85 tunes to run it. Just fill the tank and go.

good luck!

Yesterday I ordered a Quaife LSD, speedo ring gear, two differential bearings, shim spacer kit, and two quarts of Redline MT-90 and today I went ahead and pulled my transmission. I'll have the LSD installed and be back at the track in a week or two. This should help my 2.4 60's and finally allow me to break into the 13's!!

Sweet! Do it up Nate! Best of luck, hope to hear about a killer track day!

Remember Rob's car was FWD......

....you'll hit that 11!

Anyone know the 14b record for pump gas (not E85)? Or has no one even bothered with that?

Not that anyone cared to record I suppose. Several times in this thread we've gone over what should be and what should not be considered records. We basically narrowed it down to a couple categories.

A. Overall 14b
B. Overall 14b no nitrous

A couple of us like to narrow it down between fwd and awd just to make ourselves happy and because there is such a gap between the two platforms weight wise. Starting to break down by fuel type, full weight vs. weight loss, platforms, blah blah blah. We'd all own a record if we wanted it.

Thanks Phil for the kind words, I'll get that 11 for sure!

Emo1010 I remember seeing that vid earlier in the thread, forgot about the addition. So top 10 once again LOL.

I'm sure, you've been a strong mover this year and I want you on the top ten list!

As far as #5 and #6, I would put Sadorf as #6, Carleton as #5.....because, we don't have his ET to the thousandth, so that defaults to a 11.769....and his trap speed is lower. If they had the exact same ET to the thousandth....the higher trap should be given the higher placement OR to the quicker 1/8 mile ET. I prefer 1/4 trap speed as this is about 1/4 mile drags.

Thoughts?

Yeah buddy! :hellyeah:

It'd be nice to see both Nate's get some cleanpasses in.

Speaking of clean... I pulled the trans this morning, cleaned and painted it, and am now just waiting for my LSD to arrive :)

I agree with you Phil, tried adding it too quickly and didn't pay enough attention. That's also why I have Nate above English as we don't know any of the particulars other then 11.7! I asked him about it at the shootout, he didn't even remember it as an 11.7, he thought it was an 11.8! I'm going with what he first posted for the list however.

Good looking trans Nathan!
