Rats...we'll miss ya. But I understand with the wife and house thing. Keep plugging away at it.

EDIT: 08-01-10

4 Bolt Rear end is in! Got a letter yesterday from the apartments, someone complained about me working on my car. It does say in our lease no working on cars or leaving them on jackstands and it's been up for two days but come on, I was waiting on the guy to get me the 4 bolt! So I figured as long as I get it done before monday I'm good (no one is in the office until then). Unfortunately I just discoverd my extra quart of redline shockproof is actually only half full :( So I'll have to get another quart so I can fill up the rear and get back moving. For the record I was going to clean the rear end up and paint it, but due to time constraints it had to go in all nasty looking. Also for those wondering the swap gained 4 lbs.

Yeah man.. The apt thing sucks hard.

I managed to find duplexes.. even house that cost about the same as an apt with the added bonus of a garage so I went for it. You'll never look back..

It saddens me when I see cars from midwest/back east. They seem so corroded LOL. I can only imagine how much BS you guys have to go through to break bolts free without snapping them, or trying to fine clean, immaculate conditioned cars. We're pretty spoiled over here I suppose.

Keep up the good work bro.. Don't let the "man" hold ya down.. Work on it anyways LOL. :hellyeah:

Oh yeah, the rust/corrosion issue is horrible. I had to let most of the bolts sit soaking with PB blaster for a while before I dared trying to break them free. I only broke one bolt on this whole process so that's pretty good! I'm going to hold onto the spare subframe I have now and clean it up and hopefully get some new bushings and eventually I'll be able to install that to save some headache for the future, plus clean things up.

We own a house up north where we're from that we're currently renting out, but when I got my job I was sent here to Jackson and although we've come close to buying a house or two we've run into some strange snags everytime. We're currently looking at a house to rent though. I can't stand this apartment stuff and we've been here a year and a half now!

Hahn Super 20G.

Stay away; they're not worth the T3 flange on the turbine housing unless you're making 25+psi, at which point a smaller Mitsu bolt-on housing would yeild more flow with a larger turbine than this housing and the TD05H turbine.

The Hahn 20G's were intended for use on engines with higher compression or larger displacement than our engines, hence the larger turbine housing. This turbo would be laggier with no additional flow benefit below 25psi in comparison to a traditional TD05H 20G in a DSM bolt-on turbine housing.

That's an interesting bit of information. I wonder what there is to be had with the T3/td05 combo after 25 psi? I have every intention in trying to force that much boost through my 14b across the RPM band. I just don't want to switch to T3 and gain nothing from it.
You're compounding, Paul....you have nothing to worry about using this housing on your compound setup. The above message was to deter anyone from putting a 10cm T3 housing on their Big 16G @ 15psi and expecting a noticeable gain. You should see some of the ridiculous questions I get on a daily basis regarding turbo wheel / housing modifications from guys who aren't even close to pushing their current setup to the max.

A 10cm T3 housing on a 14B might be a great idea for a car that was race-only or has increased displacement / compression where the exhaust would contain more energy.

The bottom line is matching turbine housing flow to compressor efficiency. You don't want to pair a 60lb/min compressor up to a turbine housing and wheel capable of only 45lb/min anymore than you'd want a 70+lb/min T4 turbine housing on a 33-34 lb/min 14B turbo. A well-balanced setup spools quick and makes a heap of power.

I know they're now discontinued, but someone going after the 14B record who isn't necessarily concerned with keeping the stock 6cm turbine housing yet may want to keep the turbo DSM bolt-on should try to find one of the old-school .55 a/r TD05H Bullseye Power turbine housings. These are roughly 8.5cm and have a centered-volute which would support better turbine flow than even the 7cm Mitsu housing for high-boost race use.

I was actually kicking around the idea of using the 10cm housing on my 14b car too (track only tin can, squeezing the little 14b to death). But I think I'd rather keep it all bolt-on, so I decided to stick with the 7cm housing. I'm definitely going to use it on the next compound set-up though. Should be perfect for that.

What a day! First off the dsm/evo shootout was a total blast. I think I had more fun this year then previously as I finally ran a car at the shootout. I'll cut it short and preface, since my last outing breaking the 3 bolt I've added a new/used 4 bolt rear end and the extrude honed intake manifold. Boost was set at 21psi, no shimming of the wastegate, and honestly I don't know what it was dropping to as I wasn't paying attention to the boost gauge and don't have a map sensor.

First pass of the morning was a 12.58 @ 110! I was stoked and I totally botched the launch, pretty much dropped the clutch :banghead: 1.88 60ft.

First round of eliminations I watched as the car next to me dropped an 11.57 to send me packing but I managed a new PB with a 12.55 @ 110! I'm .05 away from my 2010 goals. To make matters even worse I managed to slip the clutch properly but ended up spinning all 4 like crazy to a 1.9 60ft. Being that I've cut a 1.7 previously I know my year isn't over! Not to mention the brutal heat out here today!

So overall I made two passes, had no breaks, and will be driving home the dsm with a smile. Might not be the fastest, but it's hitting my goals :D

Crappy digital cam footage, someone got some real video, I'll post it if I get my hands on it.

Congratz Shane! That's a nice improvement! Keep practicing the launch, the correct technique seems to change a little anytime the car makes more power.

All the hard work has paid off.......:thumb: Bet if you get some more seat time before the year is out you can drop another several tenths off that 12.55. Nice job!

Some awesome stuff went down this weekend. Congrats bro. Hell Dave (pneumo) took his 16g setup out for the first time and dropped a 11.2 with a lot more room to go. Another 10s 16g easy. Its awesome to see what these little turbos can do.

I just updated my Dr. Jackal Blog on here with the new ported (by Dave) compressor housing (same he used on his 11.5 14b) and some other crap. I also mic'd out the size difference between the new housing and stock for anyone else comparison.

Nice update! It'll be interesting to see how that porting all works out, looks good! So when are you going to have that thing out to make some passes?

I've gone and done something rash :D I'm going to be out sometime next week to make a pass or two trying to get that 60ft down. I want to see how it can go on the sidemount. Lets just say ETS is/was having a sale and the wifey for some reason said yes (still on a racing kick from the shootout I think). Although I think I need suspension worse I dropped the change. So suspension will probably have to wait until next year. The talon is finally getting a fmic!

Could've, but for once I wanted new and secondly I'm one of the guys that preach against buying inferior ebay products. Also have you tried to find a quality fmic kit used? People want nearly as much as new and most of them look pretty beat up

Congrats on the personal best. As well as the new purchase.
It was good meeting you at the shooutout. Its always nice to but a face to a user name.

Well she almost turned over today but then I remembered the start-up map Dave gave me was for E85, not this piss octane gas that has probably been sitting in this tank for a year or so... *sigh*

The plan is to have it ready for the races next Sunday (Aug. 29) So Dave just needs to get out here by then so we can put in some major tune time. I ordered my wideband (was going to use the one from the Talon, but they'd both eventually need one anyways) and been trying to get ahold of one of these guys for the DP he has for sale and I'll be in business... Only thing I'm missin' is an aftermarket fuel filter but I can't imagine that its much of a choke at this power level with the -6an lines to it from the tank and to the rail...

Still gotta set up the meth but I wanna do that with Dave so we can determine what we are going to use to trigger it.

You must have missed when I sold my ETS 1G Race kit.. Got rid of it for pretty cheap LOL. Brand new pretty much, only mounted.

Anyways, got the Galant up and running, oddly enough I have to check some wiring. The wires are totally wrong on my coil pack. Instead of the 4123 that they are suppose to be setup as, the car only runs when it is a variant of 1234 or in this case I have it 1324. :ohdamn:. I found the coil pack that the car came with didn't even work so go figure..

Casey (eagleclaw) from DSMLink pulled a bi*** move and randomly refunded me my money for my Wide band I bought from him. (I hate poor seller ethics) with no reason why so I wont have the WB for this weekend to tune in time for the races. I got another sensor ordered up and I'll just use the AEM Gauge from the Talon for now.

Only thing left to do is get rid of my stock fuel filter and get the meth wired up.:thumb: Looks like this thing will actually make it to the track this year. :rocks::D
