Anyways, got the Galant up and running, oddly enough I have to check some wiring. The wires are totally wrong on my coil pack. Instead of the 4123 that they are suppose to be setup as, the car only runs when it is a variant of 1234 or in this case I have it 1324. :ohdamn:. I found the coil pack that the car came with didn't even work so go figure..

Casey (eagleclaw) from DSMLink pulled a bi*** move and randomly refunded me my money for my Wide band I bought from him. (I hate poor seller ethics) with no reason why so I wont have the WB for this weekend to tune in time for the races. I got another sensor ordered up and I'll just use the AEM Gauge from the Talon for now.

Only thing left to do is get rid of my stock fuel filter and get the meth wired up.:thumb: Looks like this thing will actually make it to the track this year. :rocks::D

Glad to hear it's running! What setting did you end up using for injector size?

Well I put it back to 603.. from various cals it should be in the 603-610 range. More so 607 if you adhere to the (injector size) divided by 1.4. The 2 options were either 603 or 614 so I did 603 just for now.

No matter what I do I cant get rid of that idle surge. If you have any kind of means to do a TB boost leak test Dave do you mind bringing it by tomorrow?

Lookin' forward to it, if you try to call me hit me up on that 570 number I called you from today (should still be in your phone). Come as early as ya want. I'd assume, the more time the better. :D:rocks:

Ha, that's where I set it! Or was it 602? I'm glad to see the math worked out, I love it when my calculations match reality so closely.

I'll bring my leak tester and a few other special DSM tools. We'll conquer the idle surge one way or another.

You must have missed when I sold my ETS 1G Race kit.. Got rid of it for pretty cheap LOL. Brand new pretty much, only mounted.

Good luck!

Sounds good! Missed the Friday night Test-n-Tune, wifey wanted a date night since we were both off work. I/We plan on going next Wednesday. I ended up with some Toyo Proxes 4 so I'm hoping for some better 60fts :D

Good luck! I predict [email protected]:thumb:

12.38 would be good :D Don't tell Travis but I would like to beat his time :shhh:

...and he's at 12.42 right? Just another couple tenths is all you need to lock it right up. I recommend starting to really concentrate on tire pressures and launch rpm/technique and do everything you've been doing and you'll be there....:thumb:

That's going to be the focus on this next outing, making a few good passes and figuring out how to get those launches consistent. Obviously I was improving each time before but fell way back at the shootout, mostly due to not staying consistent with my tire pressures. Now with the "new" tires it may be another learning curve but I'm predicting I'll be at the same tire pressures in the end, we'll see.

Well, if you found some pressures that had been working for you maybe starting there and working from there would be best. Whatever you think will get you back to where you were quickest. Again, good luck, and you have my prediction:thumb:

Oh yes.. Its on like Donkey Kong!

Very nice! Now get it tuned and to the track!

Well I told the wifey I was going to the track tomorrow and she asked me if it was open. I said of course, every wednesday is test-n-tune. So like a typical woman, she looked it up, and of course just to spite me. It's closed...

Looks like I'll be going Friday perhaps

Hey guys,

just wanted to say that i will definetly be that guy that sets out to do something and give up before accomplishing anything! :hellyeah:

I've been planning on maxing out my 14b setup for a couple of years now. However, just got around to working on my car again about a year ago. So it is coming along slowly. I've noticed this thread for a little while, just got around to reading it. Lots of good info.

I'm running a standalone and water/meth injection. I was having some issues with injection but that should be sorted out now. Had some leaks at the exhaust mani, so i took everything apart and ported everything while at it. Swithced my 6cm to a evo3 7cm.

Before i took it apart i was up to 20 psi without injection and it felt pretty decent even on low timing.

At least at this time i'm not planning on doing any major weight reduction. Also i'm sticking with ssmic for now. My main goal is simple, just max out my setup with everything that the car already has on it. Which is nothing radical at all. Stock motor, turbo and intercooler plus bolt-ons. As it is for many of you i try to keep this on as much of a budget as possible.

I'm hoping for low 12's maybe high 11's with the way the car sits right now, full weight. Afterwards possibly might start sqweezing.

I should have the car back together real soon but first i got to get it street legal before going to the next test'n tune. So i'm working on that as i speak. Looking forwards to possibly be part of this 14b quest!!

Sounds like a good start to me......most likely gonna need that meth with a sidemount depending on how far you're gonna take it. I'm sure you can hit your goals, but you can't give up:nono: Good luck, hope to hear some news soon! Welcome to the thread!

No FMIC yet, might call ETS tomorrow and get a status. But I'm still planning on going to the track tomorrow night, provided the rain holds off, about a 10-20% chance last I looked, cross your fingers for me! I took the car out and leaned it out a whole bunch up top, from 11.2:1 afr's to 11.8-12.0's, might make a little better power. I also ended up window welding my carrier bearings as they started thumping on me. Removed the heatshields from the exhaust tunnel while I was down there, a whopping 3lbs. I might pick up some carpeting tomorrow and remove my rear seat for a little extra weight loss.

What are you running for fuel again? Hey 3 lbs. is 3 lbs.! I say forget the carpeting and just rip the whole interior out ROFL:thumb: Seriously, good luck tonight brother and I hope you hit 12.30's. Then with the ETS you can look for a decent power jump and maybe find yourself in the 11's before the year is out, now how would that feel:hellyeah:

11's would be awesome this year! But the 2010 "goal" is still there, gotta make sure i beat that tonight. The next goal is to overtake Travis with a 12.41 or better. But provided that happens, the only goal left is 11's!

I'm running E-85, which I could technically lean out to about 12.5:1, but I'm staying somewhat conservative and my timing is quite high yet even with a couple degree's I pulled out last time for the shootout. I may try doing some more tuning tonight at the track depending on how things go. It's just been running so well I was hesitant to change anything but I know there is a slight bit of power to be made leaning it out so it should be even better now.

I've considered just stripping it out and going for it, but driving it around so much was what initially held me back. I'm planning some more "discreet" weight reduction for the fall/after season absolutely, I've already got 200lbs planned. But I got a call from one of my local dsm buddies who was talking to another local dsmer about my car. The guy was telling my buddy how he can't understand how my car ran so fast at the shootout and that it must be completely gutted. It was nice hearing my buddy tell me he laughed at him and told him my car is still nearly full weight with a full interior. That guy runs a large Holset setup and has yet to better 12.1. Although I could care less about the tin can thing it is impressive to say it's a full street car still and has some level of comfort :D

I thought you were on E85. Very cool, that's definitely one reason you can grab some extra power out of your set-up, should be killer with the ETS FMIC for sure. Nothing wrong with being conservative, hell, I think I still run on the conservative side of things so far---as far as my overall set up. On VP C16 I run 12.2:1 at WOT with some flickers to 12.4:1 once I'm in 4th gear and at the top of the track.

Whelp, go smash the 12.50 goal and grab whatever extra you can above and beyond that. Very impressive this year so far, hope to hear good things when I wake up tomorrow morning! :thumb:

Got the FMIC today! :( And it's damaged. The outlet on the intercooler is severely dented. So it won't be going on for this evenings outing.

That blows....I've had that happen so many times....all excited when the goodies arrive and then unpack them and they're wrecked. Sorry man, might have been too tight on time to get it on and tuned well anyway, maybe a blessing in disguise.

Again, good luck! Forget about it for now and focus!:rocks:

Bummer.

I'm going out to the track on Sunday. Still shooting to break into the 13's. I went to the track 3 weeks ago and as soon as I pulled up it started pouring. Forecast is nothing but sun for the next week so I should be good to go! I'll post an update afterwards.

Appreciate the welcoming!!

Originally, i intented to push for more boost and less timing. However, now with all this talk about 14b's blowing up and all at high psi range. I think it might be wiser to go for lower boost, higher timing numbers.

I know this has already been briefly touched upon in this thread but i'll ask anyways someone with some knowledge on the subject. What are some or all of the things we could do to help us save our 14b and make sure it stays sucking for a long time?

1. Feeding it oil from the filter side
2. More frequent oil changes
3. Mixing in 1qt or so of synthetic into the mix

Anything else?

Feed the 14b oil from the head, too much oil pressure is what kills turbo seals.

Synthetic, well, I'd rather just say using a quality oil wouldn't hurt anything.

Frequent oil changes are a must on a car you drive hard anyways.

The track night didn't exactly go off as planned. We got there, begging and pleading it wouldn't rain on our parade. Sprinkled just a touch then quit so we got lined up to go. My buddy took his Ninja out and ran himself an 11.57 @ 122, not bad for a first timer. My night didn't go so well.

I set up and launched as usual, car gripped great as I started slipping the clutch out, apparently it gripped too good. It felt as if something gave up and I felt that feeling of fwd tire spin mode again and immediately let off as I started hearing a clunking sound. I pulled over to the side and found that I had snapped not one, but both U-joints on the driveshaft. Thanks to some awesome folks out there I managed to borrow a jack and a socket in order to pull my T-case and drive home in fwd mode...again.

Sorry dude!

I'd recomend feeding the 14b from the head using a stainless line. Remove the stock feed line, it has a restrictor built into it. The restrictor doesn't supply enough oil when the turbo is pushed really hard.

BTW I also like 4 spider center diffs. A welded center diff will send almost all power to the rear wheels on a hard launch, and the Tcase, rear axles, and driveshaft can't handle that much power.
