I'd wish you'd get back into the 14b thing. I still re-read your old post, with you and Phill going at it. It's still funny years later. JUST TO LET YOU KNOW, i've used alot of your advise from what you posted in the past. It really works:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:.

I'll post my 14b/nitrous time from last year, whenever I find the slip. It felt pretty damn good on the shot. I went to Capital Raceway, it'd gone faster at MIR. I had wiring issues and have since retired the car. My new car has a different set-up.

That's the plan. I picked up a small 16g with a good 7cm housing last week, so Im going to swap the turbine housing in first. With the forward facing ofh and alternator relocation, I think I can do it without disturbing any oil lines or the manifold. Then, assuming it can nail an 11 next time out, Ill swap the cartridge and get this 14b available for the talon.

I'm really liking this small turbo stuff again, guess I might as well sell off the T3T4 setup that I pulled off the GVR4.:p

Just put the spray on the car, I know you really want to do it.;)

Any updates on the Yellow car?

How awesome would it be to have grnmch back in the 14b fray!:hellyeah:

I was weighing stuff in the shop yesterday (shipping boxes), so I got accurate weights on the GVR4 seats: 121.4lb total! my RCI race seat is about 19 with brackets, so there is a solid 100lb weight loss for next time.

While I was in the weight mood, I check my nitrous bottle: 24.6lb Nearly full:sneaky: The GVR4 still has the feed line, wiring, and bottle brackets installed. So I guess Ill put the fogger in, mount the noids, connect the fuel line, and bring the bottle with me to the track next time. If for some reason the car goes 11.8 right away and I get bored, I can always try to get booted for no rollbar on the 14b. hahaha:aha:

Yellow car updates: not much.
  • Fighting with glue removal from the old vinyl, no chemical seems to help. I'v tried goo-gone, carb cleaner, brake cleaner, rubbing alch, gasoline, tire buffer, paint thinner. Nothing softens it up!
  • I picked up a shortblock with manley pistons/rods...it needs a crank and one rod due to a spun bearing. Have a good 2.0 crank, manley will sell me one rod for $95 but I need to get end weights for the other 3 so they can match it.
  • Cyl head is ready to go. HKS cams, upgraded springs, mild porting.
  • Once I get the 16g swapped into my GVR4, then Ill have the 14 turbo setup ready...just need another o2 housing.
  • Picked up a used fidanza flywheel/ACT2900/6puck.
  • Need to find a 91 style welded center diff, then I can put the trans together
  • once that stuff is in the car, Ill take it to JMF and have Brent fab me the intake pipe and turbo-tb pipe.
  • Then I need to buy afpr, injectors, and fuel lines. Have 044 pump and 1gal cell already. I figured I'd wait to buy lines untill I knew the route, length, & position.

I FINALLY got my hands ont his damn car as far as putting it back together.

I am still missing the Clutch master cylinder but that is an easy fix. I got the bolts and what not from Nate just recently so tomorrow will resume the charades. I am already annoyed by how cramped this engine bay is compared to my Talon. Putting the pulleys on was a b*tch until I decided to basically glue the pulleys together then onto the water pump to hold it down long enough to get some bolts in there LOL.

As soon as nightfall came a visitor decided to appear in the form of a black body the size of a milkdud with purdy red markings. She left when the light hit her and I am sure we will cross paths again when I forget about it and haphazardly poke my hand around her web some more tomorrow..

I couldn't for the life of me get the driver side engine mount to line up, either the 2 rear holes lined up and the center bolt for the mount didn't work or vice-versa. Tomorrow however is a new day and with it will hopefully come the installation of the rest of the drive line and leaving the car only needing a charged battery to turn over. Fingers crossed.

LOL,Good luck!Galant's are a total bi*** to work on but it will make a man out of you....I was like ROFL when you were talking about superglue:thumb: I thought I was the only one that uses superglue...

Good luck with the 14b GVR4 guy's.....

Nate have you noticed at half track all the air that come's in through the grill pushes the sides of the hood up???It's like a parachute:hmm: I know if that was fixed it would be good for atleast a .1 or so and some mph:sneaky:

You have decent (as in, not rusted out) Summit wagons in MI? That is pretty strange, all the New England Summits are total rust buckets :(. I had to hunt down a southern, rust free Summit! The problem is that they sold very few AWD Summits in the south... So they are almost impossible to find.

I always say that my Summit is worthless, but irreplaceable :)

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense for me to get my Summit running on a 14b that I have laying around. It will have a brand new, Stage 2 engine. So if it feels fast enough, I might even take it to the track!

I actually used this silicon type glue. I didnt think the super glue would hold and I simply wanted something that would hold it long enough to line up the impossibly tiny locater pins.

See that there are a bunch more little tidbits I am missing I will be giving Nate a buzz once again to order up the nickle and dime pieces.

And those Expo/Vista vans are a dime a dozen here.. People cant give them away. The guy I bought my VR4 from has had his in near working, 100% complete good condition sitting and cant get rid of it for $300. I am sure if you showed up with at least $200 he'd give it to you on the spot LOL.

Guess what I found on a junkyard DSM one day?
The water pump pulley was held on by nuts and studs! I thought that was a great idea, so I put them on my car. It's sooo much easier to install the water pump pulley now.

Yeah, there is no way to put studs on a Galant water pulley.. There is ZERO room. The pulley itself BARELY fits between the frame rail and pump. Once buttoned down you can barely clear the belts between the 2 LOL. Its easy as pie on a DSM though.

Anyways Dave, we gotta plan the next day. I have all my drive train items in but still having major issues with that mount which just wont go in. I'm pretty sure I will have to unbolt another mount just to get the right amount of flex to reinstall it. Sigh** oh well. About now its the little crap that is pissing me off. I finally got my pieces from Nate only to find out that there is a rubber plug in the Tranny instead of the actual drain plug bolt. I need another slave bolt. I still gotta land my clutch master slave and the best part is the supposed 3bar GM map I purchased is a 1bar and I'm ready to hang the seller out to dry.

Oh yeah, the down pipe doesn't work. It angles different so that's a no go. Once it passes the oil pan it angles back in. I would suppose that is due to the exhaust exiting on the drivers side on the 2gs opposed tot he passenger side on everything else.

There is an EvoIII o2 housing available as well as a 7cm hotside from ebay but unfortunately Nate is using his E3 manifold or else I would have scooped the entire set.

Hit me up and we'll set something up. Congrats on the 10.1 Dave, ya never called me up to head out. You're right there looking at 9s. It'd be badass to trump Pats Evo running the 6262 with your off the shelf GT35. :hellyeah::rocks:

Ok, just make up a big list of all the little stuff your missing and Ill send you another box 0' bolts & brackets. haha

If your having engine mount issues, make sure you have a 344 front engine mount bracket..it's Galant VR4 specific. all the rest of them are the same as awd 1g stick trans mounts. If you have 347 1G DSM front bracket bolted to the block it will screw up the works and twist the engine in the frame, you'll fight to get all 4 mounts in, and eventually all the rubber mounts will tear up.

I'v got a couple sets of clutch hydraulics, I just got a 3" SS 1g AWD downpipe for sale.

Unfortunatlely, I don't have a manifold or o2 housing for sale as of today.

good luck with the 14b GVR4...it's surprisingly fun! What's you plan for goal ET and weight?

you know, I haven't really watched the hood on the track but it doesn't seem to move doing 70 on the highway:confused:

Im planning to block off the front of my DSM since it doesn't have to go down the road and won't have a fmic. The GVR4, Im not sure what I could do for aero on the front bumper that could be easily removed and not leave holes or hardware showing.

I always say that my Summit is worthless, but irreplaceable :)

I learned to drive stick in a Colt Vista AWD wagon...a maroon one.LOL I'v always thought that would be a cool 4G63T swap. any idea on weight for those?

14B record racing is calling you Leon, answer the call:hellyeah:

I weighed my wagon at the track and it was 3098lbs by itself (with half a tank of fuel and around 30lbs of junk in the trunk). By the time I remove some things (like AC), but then add things like turbo/manifolds and I/C, it will probably gain a few pounds. So AWD Summit wagon is EXACTLY the same weight as 1G AWD DSM!

A Summit is a cheaply constructed vehicle. Many of its trim pieces (dash, door panels, seats etc) are already pretty light. So stealthy weight reduction will not be as easy as it is on a DSM.

Thanks, sorry I didn't call. I wasn't sure I'd make it out to the track since I was waiting on some parts for my tranny. Everything came together at the last minute and I made it on time. I was teasing Pat about my latest time, he only has .2 sec and 4mph on me.

Wrong Summit... Think AWD wagon ;).

I was next to one of these yesterday LOL. I read a thread or a site a few years ago that made me consider building one, as i'm sure they are super cheap, and the article was saying with basic bolt-ons the wagon was beating a LT1 camaro but after a hand full of launches the drive shaft became the weak link.

bah, the rust adds to the sleeper appearance. Who'd expect an old, rusty 4 door wagon, (seats 7) to run a 12 second 1/4 mile? LOL

As I mentioned before, I have seen that wagon in person and it is is good condition. You got one tiny rust spot and people think its the end of the world in Cali. You wouldn't last 2 winters somewhere else.. LOL
