canada,
All "my car won't start" discussion threads are merged HERE. We've basically made it easier for those who insist upon not searching by grouping together all threads from those with similar issues so you can just scroll through and see some possible solutions. To search for info within this thread, use the "Search This Thread" feature in the black bar about 3" above what you're reading right now.

Could be anything from a loose battery terminal to internal engine damage, and literally everything in between which may involve the electrical, fuel, and ignition system...possibly even something that you screwed up while working on the car yourself. While it's unlikely we're going to diagnose and solve your problem over the internet, feel free to discuss any possible solutions.

I live in Canada and right now its not very warm out, about -30c
my car does not have a block heater too keep it warm.

I tryed to start my car this morning and it wouldent start, ive had this problem before but this time, the car doesnt crank at all it just makes a sound that sounds like an electric drill.

Whats wrong.

Thanks

Timing isn't a bad place to start, But usualy if its off a tooth it won't cause it to not start. Just run like crap. You could check out the ECU, 95s I've heard were the only ones that really had issues in the 2gs. But back to basics, Boost Leak Test, fuel, spark and compression. Make sure firing order is correct. Just cause your getting spark does not mean they are in the correct order. Could also be a clog somewhere in the fuel system. Clogged injectors can cause fuel to enter the cylinder but as drops, not spraying. And a new fuel filter is always a cheap, good thing to do.

Check the oring on fuel pump when they go bad the pump leaks down after you shut car off. This causes the pump to have to basically refill before you start, to get pressure back up. But there could be lots of different reasons this is happening.

I had a similar issue with my GSX. I ran the car almost dry on gas coming home. And it wouldn't start for at least 30 minutes the next day, since the last bit turned into fumes, the pump couldn't capture it. If it has a near empty tank, dump 5 gallons or so in. Worked for me ;)

i i have a 95 eclipse gst i bought the car for about 500 bucks had the engine rebuilt, its a 7bolt 4g63t.things i have done i put a new starter still didnt start new battery, did compression test all four cylinders were between 140-145,it has spark, and checked firing order i have from left to right on coil pack 4-1-2-3 i have a video on you tube ill post the link on what its doing i really need help hoping fellow dsmers can help this is my first dsm so new to them;)heres the link to video 95 Eclipse gst help no start - YouTube

@broken_eclipse yes timing is correct im try again tomorrow and check the timing, and its set to a 95 cas,it has spark did a small test to check fuel pump, someone told me to check fuel pump low rate and fuel pressure,he said it flows but may be weak?

ima run more tests and update asap but thought id post on here see if any others have experienced this and kinda pointed me in a better direction LOL thx for the help guys will update though

Yea definitely check the fuel. Whether it is not pumping fuel, or that somewhere in the fuel line is clogged. Chances are (if the engine was rebuilt) that the car may have been sitting around for a while. Bad fuel can cause a gunked up tank which leads to MULTIPLE problems. The initial bag filter over the pump could be clogged, fuel filter, fuel injectors, anything. Also check all the wirng going to each injector. Cars are geting old and through a lot of heat cycles. Causes really brittle wires which have broke on 3 of the 4 cylinders on my car. New spark plugs. You can have the firing order the right way but if the plugs are shot, no good. And never hurts to do a Boost Leak Test.

@92panda thx ima try everything fuel related:)the guy i bought it from had it sitting there for like 4 to 5 months then i bought it had the engine rebuilt 4 months later so that was total 8 to 9 months sitting there, once i dropped the engine in drained out the old fuel in the tank and filled her up with premium.

My car did the same thing when I got it. Changed the spark plugs and she fired right up. Funny thing was is that we checked to see if they were sparking, they were. I guess it just wasn't strong enough. You could also try spraying just a touch of starting fluid into the engine. If it fires for a sec then your problem is fuel.
