I bought one on eBay over a year ago for $30... problem with the one I bought is that the little plastic tab that hooks to the key ring broke, and I doubt glue will hold long on that piece. I found some different keyfobs on ebay with multiple key ring hole locations, and the keyfob itself looks the same as mine otherwise. Any idea if they'll all work on a DSM ok?

Also, I noticed some are 2-button, without the panic button. Will those work in place of a 3 button keyfob?

Alternatively you might just drill a hole into the body near the edge for attaching your key ring. It's what I did for my aftermarket remotes that broke in a similar fashion. Of course you have to make sure you're not hitting the pcb inside.

I was thinking of trying that too, looking at the ones listed on ebay... guess if it hits something I can just buy another one.

I may have done that a few times.

Even that new hole is still outside the area of the rubber seal. I also used a thinner key ring that has a half inch gap between the ends of the overlap. It makes it so only one loop of wire has to pass through the hole.

Also, the contacts on the buttons wore out, so I have little pads of aluminum foil super glued to the back of the buttons.

See, I'm a little afraid of pulling it apart, creating more issues with buttons not working, etc.

For the 2g guys I got my replacement keyfob from mitsubishiparts.com a few years back. It was like $43 and was listen under electronic controls or something weird like that. I think I posted the part number on another thread, I can search for it and post a link here. I'm not sure about the 1g one but Chris you could call them and ask if its available still. That's what I did for my 95 and they found the right one and it's really simple to sync to car.

I don't need a 1g keyfob, this is for my 2g Talon.

I know this is off topic Chris. But if you need a new key or a spare,The dealers are only gonna have them till the end of the year.Or maybe untill they run out after that..Thats what the dealer told me anyway.

Price at mitsubishiparts.com is $85.08 without shipping.

I got my keyless from keylessride.com though they seem to have gone up in price. I don't recall them being $50 when I bought mine. Still a good remote though.

A little late, but I'm sure you saw that there's little you can mess up inside there.

The biggest problem I've had is that I once failed to notice that there were two batteries inside and only reinstalled one. It doesn't work so well that way.

I still have the key fob from my old spyder which was the same year and model as my current one which has the factory keyless entry but didn't get a fob from the previous owner. Can I have the fob I got reprogrammed , for my current one?
