HP Holley 850 Double Pumper for the Big Block Chevy 468 is done. Power valves were loose enuf that I removed them by HAND (not supposed to be loose) and the base plate was way too loose also. Idk who had been in it, but they had leaned it out, jet wise, considerably but after finding the loose power valves, it was running on the high speed circuit ALL THE TIME, NO IDLE CIRCUIT control which is why they had probably tried to lean it out with #72 jets when it should have had #80's. I fixed all that shit and got it ready for the customer but took a straight shot to the only good eye I have with some carb spray. I hope my vision clears up, its blurry, even though I rinsed my eyes immediately. Part of the hazards if you didn't put on your safety glasses.
:banghead:

I don't know of any carb rebuilders other than me anymore, so I took on the job. It took about 3 hours to clean and reassemble CORRECTLY. :thumb:

Did a water pump on a 2009 ford edge today. Book time is 12 hours so that burned up most of my day.

Boy.....there is A LOT going on there, chain wise. Did it take all 12 hours?

Yeah it was not a real fun job. It took me about 8 hours from start to finish. Everything seemed to be fighting me along the way.

Glad you were able to beat "the clock"! :thumb:

Honestly I hate those duratec based Edges. The second generation(my edge for example) has the revised V6 in it that no longer has the water pump underneath all the timing components.

Speaking of Edges...I did this today..FINALLY.

New tires! It's been needing them so badly. The old tires looked like drag radials. Lol. I got a screaming deal on these on a closeout sale for like $650 for all four, so I couldn't pass them up. Next set of tires are gonna be the Continental DSW06 or whatever they're called. But, these were too good of a deal to pass up.

We'll see how it handles a 400hp AWD launch later tonight, so I can compare traction between these and the cheapo Uniroyal Tigerpaws.

I won't lie though it's got 259k miles so I really can't complain to much. Everything is original, so I'm not too upset. I do like the next generation they are alot sleeker, not so egg looking.

If the electronics wasn’t such a nightmare, the sad part is the 3.5TT from the SHO and the Flex/Explorers of those years bolts right in. Mounts, trans, everything.

Could have a hell of a sleeper.

Wow
I have to do the water pump on my cx5 this week and I was internally complaining due to having to go from underneath and between the block and framerail. I will now keep my mouth shut LOL

In addition to building computers, I also modify mice, headsets, keyboards, etc.

I don't have a soldering iron since I moved semi-recently and just used my dads when I was back at home, so I used my solder sucker as a soldering iron and laid out just about the worst solder joints possible. But, hey, they did the job and the customer was happy.
I'm getting a power supply for my soldering iron this Thursday so I can lay down much prettier joints like I usually do LOL
(Also, for all you canadians in this thread, all dressed chips are the best ever and I'm very happy my girlfriend introduced me to them)

Still doesn't look bad. Speaking of PC/tech stuff I'm gonna be building an I9-13900KS + RTX 4090 rig here soon now that I have actual modern games to play(Baulder's Gate and Starfield), so I'm gonna pull the trigger soon.

Holy build! I will likely be putting together around 30-40 setups of similar specs here within the next year for my club but my personal setup is last gen in comparison LOL
Saw you like Starfield, I preordered Payday 3 and have been obsessed with it over the past few days. Lots of good titles coming out recently
If you need any hardware / peripheral advice, just let me know!

I will take you up on that offer!

And yeah it's crazy I know, but 1) I just want to say I did it(this is the most important reason, I'm not gonna lie) 2) I want something decently future proof(meaning at least a few solid years) that can game at 4K with a decent FPS. It's gonna be expensive, but no more expensive than our cars are.

I've heard of Payday 3 but haven't looked into it. I might have to, as I know nothing about it, Lol. I'm a huge...huge D&D guy, so the Baulder's Gate is an absolute RIOT for me as to what can happen(blaming an innocent child for robbing the vault I literally just got caught robbing, and rolling such a high roll that it ended with a massive town-wide melee for example). I adore single player games, and the fact that more and more games are coming out that are single-player and mission/story oriented makes me ecstatic. I've been saying for years once the COD plebs and bros moved on, true fun games will come out again. Looks like that's finally happening!

I used to be really into single player games, like, bigtime. But, eventually when I started competing in Valorant and CSGO the interest just died off. Especially when I got really busy with other stuff being the clubs president. Havent had the time to sit down and run through a game like Borderlands or Battle Block Theater in a long time :/

I'll never be able to keep up with a modern gaming conversation. The only PC game I really got into was Streets Of Sim City. If you know, you know. I think I still have the disc somewhere but it's probably scratched to hell and back at this point.

I've seen gameplay videos of some of the new racing games like NFS, Forza, Gran Turismo. Looks like a ton of fun but I never have the time to game so it wouldn't be worth spending the money on a console and the games. I don't think a PS1/PS2 would be able to run them right? ROFL;)

Man if I had the brain power to build a PC I definitely would. I'm stuck with the Xbox unfortunately. The ps2 is a certified classic I still have my thick one collecting dust.

OMG yes.

No pictures yet but currently hanging the suspended ceiling in the basement theatre/entertainment room. Using Rockfon .7 nrc tiles, they aren't heavy, but they're mineral wool and good at sound absorption. Basically free ceiling treatment. I can weigh them down with drywall panels above if they start rattling with the 4x 18s going in down there.

Doing a 5.4.4 setup, my first foray into Atmos.. going to have to get clever with the tile placement to align with joist bays so that I can fit the 1ft^3 back boxes for the KEF Ci160ER ceiling speakers as the ceiling only sits 4.25" from the bottom of the joists.

Finally got around to testing the traction on Edge's new tires tonight.

Even on the 87 octane tune, a full send launch just results in all four wheels lighting up. Alas. Tire pressure IS at 35lbs though, so I'm exceedingly tempted to drop tire pressure and see if that helps. But if its that bad on 87, 93 will be like ice skating. Lol. It's not as bad as the old tires, but man this thing makes some torque and makes it immediately.

Guess I'll need to make the jump to either a $1200-$1500 set of good quality all seasons that are known for traction, or bite the bullet and go with a summer compound tire. As hypocritical as it may sound, I don't want TOO much traction. I used some street sauce up in NC when it was on the E30 tune and it spat the rear differential out and down the street because it dead hooked. Lol.

Still fun though. Extremely curious what would happen if I dropped the pressures down to something more reasonable, and put some airbags in the rear springs to stiffen it up back there...

Working on building a house. Hoping to break ground next month and be dried in before the weather takes a turn for the worse.

The blueprints for the shop with a lift are missing..............:hmm: ;)

Make it bigger than you think you need. My 30x40x12 should have been a 30x60x12 ROFL
It sounds like you do have a plan and I am happy to see it. It makes your life easier. Just like the wife needs a new washing machine, dryer, dishwasher.....a man needs his shop (and a lift) so he can do his work properly (it's a good argument to make anyway......). :thumb:
