its a site for eyes...... i envy anyone who will sacrafice db for looks and possibly a little trunk space. those solobarice look sweet in that hatch, personally im sold on solobarics, i have 2 s12l7's in my trailblazer with custom 3.5 cube per sub box, one has a 1/3 and the other 1/2 cube port. i built an enclosure for my talon that takes up the entire hatch, kinda sucks but good db. 2 s12l7 barics way under powered, bd1000 amp but i didnt want to have 2 amps and since i had another bd from my 93 i opted to be cheap.... anyway, i'll post some pics as soon as i finish the lifts on it (remote switch pivits enclosur into back seat for access to the spare tire area) pics will be up soon but i need to catch up on some painting and graphics first

If any of you 1g AWD guys are interested my setup is for sale! Check out the clasifieds

i agree with kre8ive_kustomz im also sold on tha solo-barics. i have 2 12 L7's n im pushn 1,470 watts RMS with a kicker kx1200.1 alos a alpine cda-7897 2 k36x9's n a kicker resolution series componet set. my amp is mounted under plexi glass n tha whole thing in a black vinyl enclosure with a raised solobaric logo on tha sides of tha sub. will have pics soon dont have a digital camera. tha solobarics suk for SQ but no one needs that. i jus luv it when its loud enough that you cant see straight
:D

finished up mine 2 nights ago. Not perfect, but better and nicer than the box I had. I like it. :thumb:

Did you customize your system by cutting holes for the subs/amp in the stock piece that covers the hatch area? i have been tossing around this idea for quite some time and it looks like thats what you have done. I think this could be an inexpensive way to achieve a custom look without the price of a custom setup.

for those more into SQ might i recommend that instead of ONE 12" L7 you get 2 JBL 12" GTO subs, just as loud (or a little louder) on the same power but the kind of distortion free bass that makes it seem as though the bass is omnipresent instead of localized in the rear... or if you want even more the POWER series are even better (but more $)...

i made and installed this stuff in the fall, its outa there now cuz i decided i didnt want the extra weight, but it was super nice when it was there. really loud too

Im gonna redo my interior next year or maybe this summer and try and incorperate a signle sub in a small enclosure into the center console area of the back seat to try and save space and weight and have an good sounding stereo, its not the same without the thump.

**edit** i downsized them cuz they were massive, thats a little better

heres current false floor sub box is being upholstered and will go on top of the top piece with a 10W7 and 500/1 mounted on floor stand. when its done i'll post

i purchased this sub off of a guy from florida. he actual had it in these classifieds but i purchased it from ebay. it's hooked up and hits hard, i'm just not sure yet what i should do for 'around the box'... any suggestions would help.

that is not my car in the pic. i have a '97 black GS (hahn stage ll kit sitting in the garage for now) N1 catback...ect the dash and center console is black the middle(doors, seats, carpet, and headliner) of the car is tan. i painted the speaker covers and rear of the interior black. the door inserts and headliner are going to be black as well. black mats go well with it. the box has a really nice paint job but i think i'd going to have to change the color, just not sure to what yet...

NO WAY will 1000-1400 be enough money for all that stuff and to have it custom installed like your talking about.

I paid almost $1200 just for Alpine Type-X component set, Alpine Type-R Coaxils, 2 10" Alpine Type-R Subs, and 2 Alpine amps to run them. So you may be able to get your speakers and amps for that price but a Professional Custom fiberglass installation will cost you a hell of alot more. Your looking at probably around $40/hr for custom fiberglass work at a Stereo Place. I have no idea what West Coast Customs charges but around here it would be expensive.
a decent fiberglass job liek i haev in my truck is around 500 to 700 here

learn to do it yourself. i thought the process, while very messy, is pretty dam fun.

i went to a audio place here and asked them how much it would cost for them to do what i wanted. they said around 1000. no way was i going to spend 1000 bucks on some fiberglass and bondo. and that was without subs. the audiobahn system i have retails for 1000. but of course ebay helped out with that(750$ amp for 200, 2 subs for 100).

Kind of a disappointing show all around imho.

I like thomas's setup, other than the garbage ass audiobahn subs (decent amps, but their subs are quite garbagio).

There was one other good spyder setup, but other than that, nobody had decent box + decent subs. Couple nice fiberglass jobs, but always w/ some shitty ass $100 alipne type r's pushed by a california 300x1 or something salty like that.

Wish I had pics of my boys old jl 15w3 setup in his 92 gsx. Beast of a box, really nice fiberglass job, and 139.2 on the dash.

Anybody actually have some real subs, like some RE's or something?

I'm planning on putting a XXX 12 or 15 vertically mounted in my trunk at some point, hopefully this summer ;)

Any other spyder audiophiles ou there?

How you going to talk shit about other peoples setups when you are using the typical " I'm planning on this summer " line?

I agree with you on some points. But I'm not going to down them for it. It's not my system. I didn't pay for it. It's not in my car..etc..etc..

Wow some people are willing to spend a little bit less on their sound system cuz they dont need to be deaf or crystal clear to the point of anal. Some would rather spend money in their engine bay than their back seat.

im pushing with 2 800 mono's .. not a "salty" 300 ... some people like to save that $1000+ that ude spend on upscale jl's for engine parts and get something more conservative to keep their ears working.

just picked up my jl w3v2 with an alpine five channel amp nothing special but im sure it will get the job done ill post pics once its in first i gotta fix my oil leak :talon:

Don't get me wrong....there's several decent setups...

Also, don't think that I'm not doing performance mods before sound...

I used to spl and sq comp....sorry if I have high standards. I wasn't trying to say that everybody's boxes and whatnot are complete shit, I'm just saying, for a 4 page thread w/ about 30 different setups in it, I was disappointed that the nicest setup was all audiobahn...ugh

I also didn't say that you have to spend x amount of money on your subs or system in general, I'm just saying, that none of those setups were really even pushing $1k hardly, whereas I used to routinely see $7-10k setups on a weekly basis, people w/ 3500w and 4 jl 13w7's and silly shit like that.

Didn't mean to come off like an ass, I guess I just figured I'd run into at least one really nice system out of all of these. My most recent "decent" setup involved 3 concept 12's, and an 1800w mono, @ 1ohm. A friend of mine in Alabama has some RE 18's, and he hits 147dB @ 50 hertz....people have thrown up, and nearly shat themselves from sitting through a bass test cd on that system.

But I don't hate, I'm running a ghetto Alpine S-Type 12 in a sealed 1.5ft box, since I had to sell the concepts last year to take care of some issues that came up.

Feel free to think that I'm just talking shit, and know nothing about car audio, and that I won't have at least an RE XXX 12 by the end of the summer...I could really care less. I don't comp anymore, and I'm not trying to run 4kw or anything, but I'm really an SQ freak, more than anything, and I don't think a single sub here has a sensitivity above 88dB, which really is quite sad, imho.

It's really about whether you like your shit, not if I do.

If you're not familiar, it's called an "opinion", which i was giving, and hoping that someone else would come out of the woodwork, with a nice setup.

Sorry if I offended anyone, no need to be crying over car audio mang.
