Did your trunk stay open with the weight of the subs?

Nope. Its too heavy. I just had this metal stick that I pin from the trunk door, to the car and it holds up just fine.

eh...just finished this a little bit ago. now the lop deck w/ the subs pulls up w/ the hatch too though.

looks very nice. however, are those seams on the corners i see??

other than that, very trick looking with the amp *inside* the box. nice setup!

i'm not putting in my system untill like the 23 of july, gotta wait for an influx in income, if you know what i mean, but i thinking of going to a real professional place, something like West Coast Customs, to built it for me. i know i want some custom fiberglass, but i actually want to keep as much trunck space as possible, with or without the spare. i hit you guys up with pix when its all installed. you think 1000-1400 gunna be enuff for 6 speakers, 2 12'' @ say 800-1000w, and amped everything, i already have a bombass head unit?

NO WAY will 1000-1400 be enough money for all that stuff and to have it custom installed like your talking about.

I paid almost $1200 just for Alpine Type-X component set, Alpine Type-R Coaxils, 2 10" Alpine Type-R Subs, and 2 Alpine amps to run them. So you may be able to get your speakers and amps for that price but a Professional Custom fiberglass installation will cost you a hell of alot more. Your looking at probably around $40/hr for custom fiberglass work at a Stereo Place. I have no idea what West Coast Customs charges but around here it would be expensive.

Here is my sub box. It is still in the works and I'm not sure excatly what im gonna do to finish it cause i have alot of ideas. Im gonna carpet the actual box black, and the sides gray to match the back seats pattern. Today I am making little handrails type things for the edges of the "shelf". I kinda want to mount my amp under a piece of plexi on the right, then build a little locking box for the left with a lid that lifts up, but im not sure. any1 got any ideas? It looks kinda crappy now but im sure itll be alot nicer when its done.

Here are some old pics of my system. There is another sub in the hatch also. I replaced the Fusion Subs with 10" Xtant subs. I never got pics of those subs in it, because I took the system out. Weighed way to much. I might put another system back in after I finish my engine. Maybe....

*edit*
it won't let me post a pic again. I have this pic in another thread already. Anyone got a solution? You can see the system in my Gallery

check out this daddy right here....

oh wait.. mine is still a sorry excuse for nothing (besides some sheets of MDF and a package of fiberglass) . Maybe i'll have somethign to show in a week or so.

Here is my buddies sub box/system...all Alpine from amps, speakers and head unit. The speakers are behind the driver/passenger firing forward. I should have gotten pics of the inside but the lighting wasn't good. So here is the trunk at least.

I was wondering the same thing. And boogieMan, whoever did that work is awesome! Two best sysems I've seen yet, that one and the green fiberglass with the red mitsu logo on the previous page. Wow, you guys put in some serious money or time or both.

the top screws on /////Alpine V-12 amps are hidden under a cover. if i'm not mistaken, so are the bottom ones.

How do u mount the amps w/ fiberglass and hide the screws? Tape off the amp or what? I don't see how they can be mounted.

The Alpine Amps have covers that hide the screws. The only screws visible would be two small allen wrech screws that hold the flip cover down under neath the display part of the amp.

Well I can not take credit for the fiberglass work...only the cf work is my doing and that's all in the front of the car's interior. When he stopped by my house one day and showed me the sub enclosure I was in awe! From beginning to end it took his friend 1 1/2 weeks!! WOW! In person is looks even better and behind the front seats it looks really cool. Has leds and plexi that has been beveled and frosted for the led lighting to shine on. Very good work. Not much $$ but the guy said some days he spent well over 8 hours working on it. Mostly all finishing work and sanding.

basically the fiberglass fits tight against the amp with a flange that the amp screws to in the opposite direction than normal. Instead of screwing from the top down, it screws from bottom up.

Hope this helps

Heres mine. I went for quality, not soooo much bass your ear drums bust out. Sounds very nice, very clean, hits hard. Audiobahn 6x9's and 5 1/4's, with really awesome tweaters. I built something I could keep my spare with, and have easy acsess to take it out. Every thing pops out reall easy, if you know the 20 steps that I have mastered ;)

When I race though, I take EVERYTHING out. Weighed every thing, and its just shy of 150 lbs with spare
